OffBook! Is an awesome app! Easy to use and perfect for rehearsing lines. Love the mute & cue options. I listen to it in the car and while working. The developer, Steve, is great! Had a minor problem and he emailed me within an hour! Question,suggestion, or problem --He takes care of it. A must for learning lines!

Honestly, I've been on the hunt for a free AND decent rehearsing app for ages. All the ones that pop up first on the App Store are either not functional enough or are just "trial versions" that let me record like 10 lines before having to pay. I was pretty close to kicking the bucket and just using some recording app. (Thank god for persistent Google searching!) I'm so so so glad I found this. The layout is simple and functional on an iPad, and I haven't noticed any lags or bugs yet. Being able to mute my own lines is probably the best feature; memorizing just got 10x easier! I do have some suggestions though. Could it be possible to edit lines after I've saved them? Sometimes I'll record the lines, practice them, and then realize there are certain parts I want to mark/re-label for reference. Being able to export or otherwise share line recordings would also be great, especially for fast-paced dialogue or performances with a small cast. I'd really appreciate it if you could take those into consideration, but even then this app is a 10/10 would recommend ??? Keep up the good work!

This app is perfect for everything from memorizing lines to speeches and presentations. It has truly saved me from the panic of memorization. I nailed an audition with less than 24 hours of prep with this app. It's fabulous. The one thing I would love is if you could play a line or a whole show on repeat. I like to drill my monologues and say them with the recording while I'm brushing my teeth or doing my makeup, so it would be nice to not have to press play over and over. Otherwise, it's super easy to use and I love that it is customizable to the specific needs of every user. It's just what I needed!

Everything is excellent and works out well. I have an easy time memorizing lines with this. I wish, however, that the app wouldn't shut down every time I pressed the home button. Also, there seems to be a bug where I cannot change the character's name after the initial recording.

I have tried several apps for learning lines and this one is far and away the best one. I encourage you to buy the ad-free version "Off Book! Pro". It is definitely worth $.99 to get rid of those ads and at the moment there is no way to transfer the lines you've put into the free version into the paid version. Don't wait until you have 500 lines put into the free version before you realize you would like to upgrade. I contacted the developer with a question and to my surprise he got back to me very quickly with a very nice email. This was such a pleasant surprise versus many of the developers out there who don't respond to their customers. There are some really great features in the pipeline and this app is going to be stronger than ever very soon. Do not hesitate, spend your $.99 and get this app. You will not be disappointed.

Answer to an Actors Prayer

This app. Only a working actor could come up with an app so perfectly thought out to meet the hardest part of an actor's job: line memorization. Well, that and "What do I do with my hands?" but at least the memorization part has been solved. I have long known recording and listening to my lines was the best way to memorize them but this app takes that process and just blows it up with features like a DING to prompt you its your line or auto muting just your lines so you can say them after you've listened to them for awhile. It takes a minute to get everything recorded but once you do you never have to go back and rerecord with blank space where your line is or anything it's ready to go. Lastly I usually do my listening while driving and not having to try and mute the speakers or pause the recording for me to say my line is truly a life saver. I hate to admit how many times I've almost caused an accident while fooling with my line recordings and with this you just pick how you want to memorize press play and you're done so for the safety aspect alone I love this app. OMG! AND FREE! Who does that anymore?? Give this man a special Oscar, Tony and Emmy for giving such a hugely helpful gift to the acting community. BRAVO!

This is a great free app for actors. I'm an amateur actor who participates in community theater productions and have found this extremely helpful for line memorization. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is it's rather tedious to set up your script and scenes (maybe that's easier in the paid version). It can take me several hours to get everything recorded. That being said, still totally worth it, especially when you may only be rehearsing a couple times a week with your cast. Highly recommended, and you can't beat free!
