Best narrative game for iPhone

Fabia10101

For me this is hands down the best narrative game I’ve found for iPhone, better than 80 days or Lifeline. No complicated mechanics, just a good story, lots of replayability and great presentation. This is not your average choose your own adventure where you die if you go left rather than right: you are the hero of this story and dominate it - if you mess up, you don’t get a happy ending. I really can’t wait for the authors to put out another similar game.

Immersive and enjoyable!

Bythebly

I've been playing almost nonstop since I downloaded. It's a swift, simple story that arcs and branches as you make choices. You can be a rogue and a rake or a gentleman or lady, as you like. It's been fun to explore the permutations of the story and to see the different ways you can get to your goals (or fail to!). I love it!

Playful, heartfelt, full of wonder

Update for 1.5: Love the woods (Viking ship! Toad gifts!) and the new Palamedes story. A couple minor glitches I saw in the Castle infiltration section seem to be resolved. --- This game gambols through every version of Robin Hood you could wish, alternately merry and serious, full of choice and consequence, and highly repayable. Heartily recommended. I loved choosing and developing my base, and seeing things develop there -- my deepening relationships with companions, buildings rising, it turning into a little township of its own, full of its own activity. I loved getting mail -- hearing how things have proceeded after I made a choice or helped someone. The castle sequence is a fond homage to Zork and the era of "go north" and drawing your own maps. Even choices that seem like they might not be rewarded in most interactive fiction games -- silence in a conversation, going back to sleep instead of chasing a midnight will o the wisp, declining to go on a raid, failing to elude the sheriff -- have interesting outcomes, and the game is full of what feel like hidden nooks. It's remarkably branching and repayable for such a large, even epic game. It's warmhearted -- the couple romances I've played feel tender and real, as do the friendships and companions. It's often laugh out loud funny. The art is lovely and evocative. The changing seasons -- especially the seasonally shifting art -- give the game an earthy, sensuous quality appropriate to the Bold Outlaw of the green woods.... whoever he or she may be in your telling.

Choose-Your-Own Adventure with Real Replay Value!

jnespuxah

This game is so fun, I'm playing it when I should be doing other things! But it's an auto-save system, so you can just as easily open it up in line at the DMV or on the train to work. Only a few hours in, and I know I'll be playing through it again: what would happen if I had jumped out the window instead of sneaking out in that costume? Edit for v.1.5: The designer has been very attentive to feedback and diligent in rooting out bugs. How many permutations of endings can one game have‽

A lot of variables

ProfessorPlanet8

I've played through the intro several time and even the very beginning has a lot of different ways to go. (I recommend stealing the horse)

Complex and addictive choose your own adventure game!

Cbarrionu

Nocked! has good storylines and adventure and is pretty addictive. The complexity and thoughtfulness of the huge amount of choices is exciting. I’ve yet to figure out how to “win;” i’ve only been mildly effective at moving the story to my benefit. I’d love to have in game save points so i could try all the branching decisions to see all the twists and turns. The art is terrific. Highly recommend!

One of the greats

PV50

Resource management, multiple endings and different play styles makes for high replay value. The story itself is well written and really draws you in. Characters are fleshed out and really makes you care about what happens to them. One of the best available in the store right now.

Charming and replayable adventure

Coffin?

This is a well-written and charming choose-your-own adventure with immense replayability, as you’re always left wondering what would have happened with the other choices. Technically a bit clunky at times, and it takes a while for new devices to be properly supported, but this is forgivable for an indie game.

A change of heart

Unidraconus

At first I disliked this book due to the cost and sometimes the choices are not clear on what Robins intent is. As a HUGE choice reader I do have the say the story varies widely and is a challenge even at the easy levels in a way. Because of the diversity and the shear volume of choices it seems unfair to give this anything other than 5 stars.

Great story game!

Honest_user83610

I read/played through multiple times on the first version. And now that the developer has released a new version with added storylines I’m stoked! So glad I never deleted this, or else I wouldn’t have seen the update. Time to revisit this old favorite and see what’s new!
