I give this app 2 stars. I really like the fact that stories open up in it's own integrated browser. However, it is painfully slow to update, especially when switching between sections - world, sci/tech, etc. Even when I'm connected to wifi - it is the app that is slow, not the connection. It seems that it does not automatically refresh stories immediately upon opening the app and it takes a long time to fetch new stories. I'm not going to delete it but will eagerly await an update since I am a news junkie. I would really like to see more options for news sources, but the lag issue simply must be attended to. Thanks

Very good execution with little use of safari. Will quickly give you top stories without wasting time.

As with other news aggregate readers this suffers from the fact that the front-end presents a list of articles and then you are taken to the news source's web site to read the article. Unfortunately this doesn't display articles in landscape mode and, like other aggregate readers, since this is linking to the standard issue web site the text is miniscule and not formatted for the iPhone (or any mobile device) and thus quite difficult to read on the bus/train which is probably exactly where you'd want to quickly go through the day's latest events.

Please ditch "The Onion" it is a satire publication intended to be read as such. In the context of serious headlines it only confuses new readers and could actually cause dangerous misinformation. Otherwise your application is nicely designed, though Refresh needs to be faster. Also, please add a "last updated " statement.

As the description exclaims, NewsDesk skins the news quickly. It is not an indepen RSS reader and does not makes a promise and forget to deliver. This is a great app for checking the top stories around the world and then moving on. Access to the full article and site with a single touch through Safari is great if you need the extra info. If you want to sit and read the news then you might look elsewhere but if you want to "Skim the News Quickly", NewsDesk is right for you.

If you are looking to replace your NYT subscription this is not it. It's not comprehensive. Today it had maybe 10 world articles of which 3 were in the hot news of the day, same topic different sources. Can't do RSS and can't configure sources. Also the photos when refreshing push you to the top which I found annoying. It's free but I can't see using it much. AP news reader Mobile News better.

This is a beautiful, fast, stable (so far) application for reading some news headlines from diverse sources. For an early release, very well done. Needs to be expanded (more news, more categories).

I know others will disagree, but I love having the Onion. Who doesn't know that it is satire? I personally would check this app just to see the headlines and would look at the onion for a laugh. A few days ago it stopped appearing. And I miss it and find myself using the app less often. Maybe the developer could add an onion on/off button.
