Privacy VIOLATION!

I love the app, but recent events have changed my mind. First, I got a little concerned when I learned NewsBreak was developed by a Chinese media conglomerate. I wasn’t terribly concerned, but not thrilled either. I ultimately decided to delete the app when I noticed the advertisements are based on my personal conversations. I was telling my husband I needed to buy some baby books… next thing I know, a video of a baby reading a book pops up in my news feed. Cute baby! Not so cute that the app was definitely listening to my conversation! So, it’s listening. Without consent. Accessing the microphone on YOUR phone, without asking you for permission.

I’ve been using this app for maybe 2 - 3 years and I’ve really gotten to enjoy it very much. I login multiple times a day. I can choose local, national, entertainment, etc news to review. Many times I can find local news (and more in depth) then the local TV stations apps will have. I enjoy seeing and leaving comments about the articles. To me this is a great app and well worth trying. I think once you give it a chance it will become a part of your daily life.

This app is filled with nothing but fake world news articles and race baiting articles, it’s fine for local news as the Chinese that own this app can’t change it, anything else is garbage on it that you can’t believe

Pre screen posts?

Despite their policies staying lack of involvement and responsibility for user posted content in the comments, NewsBreak does get involved. I guess they started to prescreen my posts without telling me anything. Most content doesn’t make it up for unknown reasons despite other offensive political material remaining up. App keeps indicating new notifications, but there aren’t any when I click to see them. I like the large volume of info available and variety of topics that the user can customize what/how to be alerted. The app does get buggy often and freezes (not my home wifi) and a few tools need improvement to be intuitive and avoid user duplication of effort.

Privacy issues

Deleted the app but it’s still in my privacy location settings. An app shouldn’t show up unless it’s installed. That’s highly suspicious. Reporting.
