Ever wanted to read the Bible in its original language without constantly consulting a concordance? Studying grammar and vocabulary has always been so tedious and memorization techniques like flashcards do not take advantage of learning research which can dramatically shorten the time it takes you to "learn" something. This app seeks to remedy that with New Testament Greek vocabulary (a grammar app is coming soon).
This is the premier software for learning the vocabuarly for New Testament Greek (Koine). The app features nearly 800 words which comprise 89% of the written text. (The remaining 11% is comprised primarily of names which are easy to read once you learn the vocabulary).
The app is divided into 8 Lessons which are sorted by word frequency. Lesson I covers the most basic words and Lesson VIII the most difficult. Each Lesson saves it's own progress so when you exit and come back, you start learning right where you left off.
The learning engine we have designed keeps track of what you know and what you do not know. It feeds words back to you in intervals to optimize learning. If you miss a word, it will appear more frequently. Once you have answered it correctly a few times, it is marked as learned.
NOTE: The app assumes the ability to read the Greek alphabet, at least on a basic level. The app does not currently cover any grammar, as it is designed explicitly for building vocabulary, but a separate app covering grammar is in the works.

This app is great! I love getting quizzed at my Koine vocabulary. Warning: if you don't know how to read Greek or didn't study any words, this app won't help you much. Study a little vocab before getting it. I would love to be able to play each word, just to make sure I pronounce it correctly.
Seminarians Need This!
Excellent but Limited
This is a great companion to BBG by Mounce, though not related. There are a few additional vocabulary words but not too many. They are useful and fun to figure out once you get a grasp on roots and stems. Make this a game to play when you're taking a break from "the fog". I wish I had found this a year ago! Peace, J

This app has potential but is really basic in functionality. There is only one study option and it's multiple choice. This is nice but I'd love to be able to turn that option off and have other study options as well. The app succeeds in that it helps you review vocab BUT if you don't know Greek BEFORE studying these words then this app is wrong for you since it necessitates a fairly thorough understanding of grammar before you study, otherwise you'll memorize words without knowing that there are masculine, feminine and neuter words that are all declinable. This app for instance only provides the nominative singular with the definite article without including the genetive, dative, accusative or vocative as well as their plurals counterparts. I really think this app has the potential to be amazing but it's got to have some work done. More study and quizzing options, ability to edit cards, ability to scroll through the word lists, view the complete synopsis of a word rather than just the nominative and genetive because some words are irregular. I think that as is the app isn't worth being 9.99 and although I bought this one for 4.99 there are other greek flashcard apps with more features for less money, not trying to be mean but there are. Having said that this one could overtake them if it gets better.

Eh, its ok. Very good selection of words. But there is a glitch that causes each lesson to end at 96% which is annoying and lazy. Limited in that it only does the multiple choice functionality but no dictionary viewer or other learning options.

How is this worth $4.99? All it is is a test. How is this a vocabulary builder unless you've already learned Greek. Very poor. Completely NOT worth it.

This is a great app! But do not plan on learning Greek by this app alone. It is like a flash card Quiz with multiple choice. I would give this app 5 stars if they fix one thing. Every time this app closes or if you switch out of it for even a moment, you lose all your progress so you have to start at the beginning again. Although this is frustrating, it is kind of nice too. All the words at the beginning of each lesson I am really good at. Although the words at the end of each quiz I haven't seen nearly as much. So I wish each quiz was more random and mixed the order up a bit more. This is a great supplementary study tool!
