To put the large numbers of the national debt into perspective, the app shows what you would have been able to buy with the national debt (e.g. find out how many Iraq Wars is equivalent to the national debt). You can adapt and specify your own items in this list.
The app also shows how long it would take to pay off the debt when paying a given amount per day, and shows the debt as percentage of the gross national product.
The data is based on official numbers provided by the governments and are updated on a regular basis.
Disclaimer: the real-time numbers in the app are estimates. No rights may be derived from the data provided in the app.
Works as designed and is a real eye opener. Maybe the world needs to file bankruptcy
It crashed, I deleted it and downloaded it and it stayed on one country and would let me choose a different country.
This is a great app and it illustrates very clearly what is happening in economies around the world.
When the thousands place moves faster than the hundreds place, the counter is obviously faked and flawed. The counter should at least appear to count correctly.
I hate when app developers update an app in order to make using the free version more annoying. This developer just did that: now, on top of the obnoxious pop-up ads and the messages asking to upgrade the app, there is an "upgrade" message on every graph! I also wonder if the developer has some mainland China affiliations (Taiwan is called a "province of China"!). I know Apple does not like to get involved in geopolitics but this is a serious breach in neutrality.
