A 5-star idea w/a 10-gigaton problem

Privacy. That’s the issue with a good selection of radio stations served up well. I just don’t want anyone to know who I listen to, whether someone’s after data on my taste in music, or I decide to check in with what the thugs of the trump.right or other nations’ Nazis are up to. Now, I could always just get a good multiband radio and set of antennas. Or ... I can’t expect anyone to run the Ultimate Station without expecting to make some cash for the effort. So, here’s the alternative: Offer paid service, using Squrl encryption smart login (look it up, webfolx everywhere- Steve Gibson has the ultimate system for logging in as a paid user to any web-based app without leaving a trace) and encrypted requests for, and delivery of product - standard 24-bit pubkey. And a contract with a bonded party that no data about my use of the site can ever become public. The only record kept - did X pay account? OK, login stays good. Now it will allow some vile folks to listen to some ugly stuff with no one, including the uglies, the wiser. And it’ll cost users to get an encrypted account, because there will be no ads and no info to sell to the listbuilder services - but in times when a single copy of a good newspaper is $3 local/$5+ out-of-town. But media costs. And you can pay with your privacy OR pay cash- if the system owner’s willing to do it - it means a REAL contract with subscribers, promising no info gets out - backed with an insurance policy that pays BIG if it does - inexpensive if the provider just doesn’t keep records. Look, these days, your digital TV provider’s monitoring every second you spend watching (hint, they don’t send 500 vid channels down the single two-way fiber that gives you hs internet AND one to 4k-line video channel at a time AND two voice lines- those extra 499 or so vid channels just don’t fit! And your 5G signal can be tracked and traced by your Friendly Service Provider or the one you use when you use this kind of service instead of a car radio. It’ll be up to us to decide if it’s worth what the service wants to charge us + those unlimited data accounts. Give the public good service and yell all about where their data goes otherwise - including back to the folks you listen to, and, provider willing, we’ll get a choice. Laws preventing datatheft may just drive services like this out of business - not a good idea either. Real radio was easier before FX and the like got in on the action US listeners are free* to listen to any broadcasts they wish - unless limits are posted during time of declared war (*except for cell phone frequencies). Car encrypted broadcasters sell your listening data too. It would be fantastic for a wealthy privacy advocate to provide the kind of service I’m talking about frer, but I’m not holding my breath.

Ads are very very inappropriate!

Boomerang dude!

Besides the fact that commercial pops up while you’re in the middle of listening to the radio, commercials are time limited, it will keep going on till you close it by yourself; let alone lately, the commercials are very adultery and very disgusting inappropriate and loud with moaning noise. So, just imagine sitting with your kids or among a decent group and such commercials pop up. Shame. Nevertheless, delete, many other better functioning and decent respectful broadcast applications available in the store.

most obtrusive ads ever

garbuhj

its fine to have ads, but these ads block you from using the app for 30 seconds after literally every tine you change the station. So if you wanna scan through a few stations to find something good it makes the app nearly unusable.

Hawaiian music

Last year, I would have given this app a 4. The app is cool but the ads take over the whole screen. Then you’re forced to wait for and find, the tiny x so you can exit the ad and get back to the app. Pain in the .... However, the ads did not disrupt the music! That was 2020. Today an add popped up, as usual. But this ad was different. It took over the whole screen, muted the radio and played its own music. Even worse, it made me wait for 20 seconds before it allowed me to exit the ad. Completely unaccetable. Another sellout app, I guess.

Love it!

A really great tuner and podcast player!

For those of you who may have given up on terrestrial radio - there is still a lot of great programming out there being done by thinking and breathing humans! Besides the ascended masters and mistresses who will educate and entertain you about many styles of music (mostly on ‘fm’) - a bonus is the am or fm ‘call in’ talk radio stations - still ‘doing it live’ (discussing the issues of the day)! Your favorite flavor is likely out there somewhere! Hint: search the web first with a keyword or city that captures your interests, politics, or sports colors. Then type the station letters you find into the Radio Tuner (or check their schedule for when to tune in)! Join the conversation, get informed, and let off a little steam! This is true interactive ‘live media’! No tuner app accesses every available ‘audio stream’ - but this one is very comprehensive. The vast majority of fm or am stations will come up if you punch in the call letters. A podcast search feature also allows you to punch in anything that doesn’t live behind a ‘pay wall’ (or has been licensed to this Radio Tuner)! And that’s a lot of shows! Nearly all of those really fun, but nich-y programs on ‘public radio’ have podcasts that you can call up at your convenience. Many podcasts behind ‘subscription gates’ started on fm radio. So new ones are always getting started, out there on the urban fm public radio/subscriber fed streams... This tuner works really smoothly, and much better that the leading competition. It even has a built in EQ, with a good variety of presets. Highly recommended.
