MyTreasureHunt is a free app designed for adults and kids that let's you create and/or participate in engaging Treasure Hunts.

You can hide virtual treasures in any address or landmarks in the world, provided that it is within range of a GPS signal. You can also burry a treasure at your current location.
Clues can be written text or pictures. Hints are optional.
MyTreasureHunt also allows you to set the accuracy of the location for easy/hard mode (default is a 50m radius around the treasure location).
Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
