This app provides Eskom Customers with Load shedding schedules and Municipality contact information for Municipality customers.

Users can view:
1. The current National Load shedding status
2. Eskom Load shedding schedule for their suburb
3. Eskom Load shedding status of suburbs for a customer’s location
4. National Power Status
5. 1 Day forecasted demand vs. actual demand
6. Eskom Load shedding information and schedules can be viewed in three different displays:
a. Calendar view – Allows you to toggle between weekly and monthly displays
b. Dial view - Provides load shedding information available up to 1 week
c. Map view – Provides icons displaying load shedding times and crowd source power outages relevant for a specific day
7. Eskom and Municipality contact information
8. Option to contact Eskom via e-mail
9. Social media link to Eskom’s Twitter and Facebook
10. Tag an outage on the map for crowd sourcing
11. Search for an Eskom schedule using Eskom Account Number, Eskom Meter Number, Address or Geolocation
12. Option to switch alerts on or off to receive push notifications
13. Load shedding schedules for preferred locations in the Watchlist section
14. Awareness information
15. Report safety hazard

Amazed at how easy it is to use the Eskom app. And the attention to detail. It may be new but has a lot of features, especially how it is able to notify it's users of the load shedding schedule. Impressive!!

Wasted opportunity

But you can fix the app and make it FANTASTIC if you: (1) send a notification to me (u know my area from my gps) 5 min BEFORE u cut my power so I can get my genny going and switch power sources without all my pc's etc crashing. (2) send me a notification the moment Eskom's power is restored (so I can save on my genny's petrol costs) (3) push me notifications as soon as the load shedding schedule changes (say from no-shedding to schedule 2 etc) so I know how to plan my day - pulling the current shedding status of a sub-menu in your app ain't good enough IMHO. THIS would be REALLY useful info to communicate to customers, not which appliances to turn off... I'll even build for u if you are interested enough to contact me.

I guess it would be a bad sign if Eskom put better brains to work on their app than on their power. Thankfully they didn't.

There are better load shedding apps. When I saw there was an eskom app I thought I would be able to view and download my bills, contact directly for any queries. Obviously developed by Eskom as it is completely useless

I just downloaded the app in the hope to get notifications when Load Shedding will take place in my area. When I opened the app, the version was outdated, and of course, couldn’t be updated. This is where the client service should start! No stars at this stage from me. Esta Nel

This app is a fail out the gate if you can't even open it because the version is outdated and you can upgrade it because there isn't a new version. Seriously!!

Just downloaded app and get error that it’s not latest version but there is no update available, can’t get it past error... dumb app, will be deleting...
