As each box is packed, use this app to detail the contents, take photos of the items in the box, and assign each box with a unique name or number. If moving house, the room that the contents belong in can also be assigned. This will speed unloading and unpacking.
We all know that unpacking after moving house can be a long, slow process. With Moving Van, if you need to find a specific item which is still not unpacked, you can simply search for that item and immediately identify the box you need to look in. Similarly, if you need to quickly remind yourself what is in each box, you can quickly view each box's content. This feature is important when putting boxes in long term storage, and can even be useful for insurance purposes with data export in four different formats.
Moving Van will take at least some of the hassle of your next house move away!

Good potential, crashes all the time

This app has a lot of potential, but suffers from the lack of a multi-select option. Once boxes are packed, the “in transit” status usually applies to EVERYTHING.. who moves one box at a time? Sharing across devices would have helped, since households have multiple people. And sorting/filtering by status, not just rooms would be really useful. And the app kept crashing on me in the middle of entering things, making it nearly unusable. I found it useful for getting and staying organized early in the packing process, but abandoned it when moving day came. Was pretty much worthless for UNpacking, because there was too much to do.

I love the simplicity and ease of using this app for moving & inventory purposes. I used it back in 2013 to move across the country, store everything for a year, then unpack in my new home. We’re planning an upcoming move and I want to use this again. I’m sad they don’t keep it updated anymore. I can’t find another app like it.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. When I use the app to take a photo, the screen is black and takes black photos. My normal camera works just fine.
Needs a few features.

Our last move included almost 300 boxes and 2 to 3 people packing all the time. We perform this task on paper and it worked fine. The problem with doing it with this app is that you only have a single phone with a single inventory that cannot be shared. Everything has to be entered on that one device to have a single database. You could have multiple phones but there would be no way to combine those databases later except by merging the CSV files on the computer. This should allow a shared database or a way to import a CSV database from a computer. Automatic box numbering would also be a good feature. As would automatically moving to the next field. As it is you have to create a box name the box and then click a button to add items to the box and create each item to add to the box. It works but it's rather clumsy. Currently new boxes are added to the bottom of the list, so when you add a new box you first have to scroll to the bottom to make sure you're not adding a duplicate – there is no duplicate detection. It's a nice start, it still needs work

In essence - the search funtion (my primary reason for purchasing this app) DOES NOT WORK! Let me explain. I loved this app when I first got it. But then I used it. I went happily along filling boxes and recording everthing I put in those boxes with pics and brief desriptions. I spent hours during my packing phase taking pics and entering item desriptions so as to make the unpacking process easier. But now, whenever I try to go into "Item" mode and do a search for an item, the app crashes. This means I CAN NOT do any searches for individual items - the same items I spent hours taking pictures of and writing descriptions for! VERY disappointing. I feel that I've had my time and my money stolen from me. Find something else to help you keep track of your move.

I'm really disappointed with this app. At first, I loved the idea. How great: a packing database on my phone. I would know what was in each box and could find everything with ease. Then I started packing. Every action takes a torturous amount of time, meaning I spend longer packing. Then there are tempermental fields that won't allow the keyboard to pop up. Finally, just when I'd get on a roll, the app would crash and lose my last item. I have high hopes that the developer will address the problem, but probably not before my move. Save your money and wait for the next version.

This is a wonderful app for moving. The search function works great. It lets you label each box, say where each goes, and list all items in box. It exports this list via email in basic spreadsheet form (easy to paste into a word doc for instance). It also makes a searchable list of all your items so you can easily find which box it is in. I've been using it for the last few weeks and found no bugs. Exactly what's needed for packing, storing, unpacking, even making a list for insurance!
The August 7th UPDATE makes the background black

This is a great AP, but the August 7, 2010 update screwed it all up. The background is black AND the letters are black, making the words unreadable. adding a new box and you cant see the letters. Please fix this glitch ASAP. Thanks

I haven't experienced any bugs. It does what it claims- so far... I'm still in the packing stage. The export is super fast. I wish: -You could add a pic of the box itself -The export included all of the pictures I took -You could export right as xls (maybe you can?) Seriously just the list of box contents is so helpful - how could you not like that? Print it out and stick it on/near the boxes when they're in their final storage place? Awesome. It's SO easy to do something like this WHILE you're packing - not carting around a notebook or laptop. It doesn't take very long to do and it gives you a couple of minutes to rest before it's "on to the next"...
