“Totally addictive”

Great overall, but I would like to see a few changes

I’ve played Monopoly on iPhone/iPod Touch for years. I was disappointed when EA’s version of the game got pulled from the App Store, but I was glad to see this new version by Marmalade. While I think it’s a great version and even has some strengths over the EA version, I feel there are a few things that were a little more convenient and intuitive about the EA version that would be nice to see in future updates. Here they are, in no particular order: First, the EA version had a drop down list of the last several things that had happened. For example, “dog landed on New York Avenue and paid $1,000 to top hat”. This is nice in case you missed something like “oh! I didn’t notice dog built a hotel there. When did that happen?” Another thing is how the trading is done. The EA version showed all of each player’s property cards on separate sides of the screen, grouped by color, with the ones that were up for trade highlighted. This made it very simple to see all of the properties each player had and to see if the trade would result in a completed color set or whatever. The Marmalade version isn’t bad, but you have to kind of search the board for which properties are being traded and who owns them and what other properties they own. Also, when other players trade, the animations on the EA version would make it much more clear which properties were transferred. It would zoom in to the traded properties and show the colored badges change that indicate the owner of the property. The next thing is that when building houses and hotels in the EA version, you could add/subtract the amount of houses/hotels you wanted and see how much it would cost before you actually committed the changes. This next thing is something I would personally like, but I can see why it is perhaps not ideal with the online play as it could cause people to hold up the game. This is being able to manually dismiss any Chance or Community Chest cards. Sometimes you get distracted for a second or you just aren’t reading that fast, and it is nice to not feel you have to speed read the card before it disappears. The last thing is that for some reason (maybe I’m just not used to the Marmalade version yet) it seems less obvious on this version to see who paid what to who. I know this sounds like nothing, but having to always read who paid what to who for rent or whether it was paid to the bank just requires a lot more effort than the simple animation from the EA game that made it so simple to see visually. This animation was that whenever a player paid money, dollar signs would explode out of their token and fly to the corner that had the name and token of the player they paid, and then you would see that player’s money increasing. I know there is still the animation on the Marmalade version that shows the transfer of the money on the side where the players are listed, but it’s just much more subtle; and with all of the extra stuff going on visually in this version, you can miss it if you’re not paying close attention and constantly looking over there. Again, it sounds like being extremely lazy, but when payments happen so many times in a game, it is much easier to not miss things with the EA version’s simple animation. In summary, I realize that most of these things are fairly minor, which is why I said that overall I think this version of Monopoly is really good. I would, however, be happy to see some of these things change, and maybe some other players would too. Or maybe I’m just used to the old version because I played it so many years and it takes some time to adapt. Anyway, I hope the developers take my suggestions into consideration.

Great investment

This is worth every cent. Especially since a lot of us cant be in the same room to play monopaly, this is almost just as good especially over facetime.

Great classic

Excellent game epic classic If you could skip the animations it would be even better!

Crap actually

Graphics are good, gameplay good but as you increase difficulty the ai simply cheats all you get are bad rolls and it happens game after game. I can but will not give examples. I wish I could get my money back. On a side note I’ve never wanted my money back on any game before.

Fun but should be free

amberrdawnn

It eh is that you pay $4 for this game yet you only get the bare minimum. No extra boards or any extras at all. Might as well make it a free game.

Love the electronic version

Teesparkle1992

Love the electronic version. I just wish there were more board options and I didn’t have to pay for them.
