For its multitasking capabilities I'm giving it a four and i would pay for this app if they add some more polished design and password protection

Great but needs server broadcast support

Needs better is server broadcasts / server announcements support. Current version receives broadcasts but you cannot view it in Monal or clear the badges. Ideally we'd get the broadcast as a normal message. Right now I have 100+ badges for server broadcasts, which is annoying. Being able to save conferences and automatically joining conferences is needed as well. Update: Monal now disconnects frequently. It displays the disconnected message. Usually my client is always on Wifi. iOS 7.1

And trust me, I've tried them all. This is the only direct connect jabber client that also properly supports multi user chat (muc).

Sometimes it will replicate my XMPP accounts and duplicate the contact list. Not entirely sure why

For Google Talk account, all online contacts appear regardless of whether you have removed them from your contact list, placed them in a minimized group in another app/program (e.g., Pidgin, Xabber), or never accepted an invitation to chat. Cannot minimize offline contacts group. Online contacts not sorted by availability/status.

But that's not saying a whole lot. This one managed to find a way to directly connect to my server and stay open in the background, which is huge. I recommend this app for those reasons alone. On the downside, my user's avatars don't come through, broadcast messages cannot be viewed for some reason, even though the indicator is there. No OTR option. What's here though is high quality. If you run a Jabber server and need an always-on client, this is the one you want.

Such a great option for a persistent, background XMPP client WITH push notifications WITHOUT running through some 3rd party service. I'm very glad to have this option.

Love the fact that this client makes direct connections to the XMPP server instead of going through a middle man proxy. This update also fixed chat room (MUC) listings. I wish I could send "slash" commands to the MUC server like "/affiliate". Keep up the good work!

Great replacement for Hangouts (at least until Google kills the XMPP side of Hangouts).
