Micro.blog

Micro.blog is a timeline and publishing platform for microblogs.
Category Price Seller Device
Social Networking Free Micro.blog, LLC iPhone, iPad, iPod

Micro.blog shows recent posts from sites and people you are following. Microblog posts are short — quick thoughts, links to web sites, and replies to friends. It's a fast timeline that's powered by the open web.

Publish to your own site, host directly on Micro.blog, or use any service that can generate RSS feeds. Text in each post should be short, 280 characters or less, without a title. Then just add your RSS feed to Micro.blog and anyone can follow you.

Instead of trying to be a full social network, Micro.blog is a thin layer that glues the open web together, making it more useful. Micro.blog adds discovery and conversations on top of previously unconnected blog posts.

Fantastic Service/App
BrotherZ

After funding Micro.blog on Kickstarter, I've been using the service since right after it launched. It's got me back in the habit of microblogging, and even gave me the foresight to change from podcasting to microcasting.

Great App & Service
@scientifics

I backed Micro.blog on Kickstarter and have been using it since. It's very easy to set up a hosted site or to post to Micro.blog from your Wordpress (or other feed). Great to see the Indieweb movement gaining traction!

Perfect antidote to Twitter addiction

I’ve started posting on Micro.Blog using this app to wean off Twitter. It’s a much better experience and people are a lot nicer & wiser. The developer is friendly and open to recommendations since the app (and the service) is brand new. Micro.blog was first to the 280 characters before Twitter and write more and you get to call it a blogpost, title & all. I love browsing amazing photos and listening in on people learning and sharing. I wish we could enlarge the photos though. Overall, a much promising service and app is s perfect complement.

A better way to post/tweet/blog

Micro.blog allows you to connect with other people while still owning your own stuff. It’s great!

poor support, strange priorities
Luhmann

I like the vision behind this product, but I've been disappointed with the way the developers keep adding new features while leaving core aspects of the app undeveloped. (Adding new apps for podcasting and photos before adding the ability to edit posts?) And customer support is very poor for a subscription service. I want to support a more open web, but find myself looking for alternatives.

It’s great and evolving very well....
