Level 18 Grey car only merged into the same Grey car.

Level 18 Grey car only merged into the same Grey car. I keep loosing valuable points. Is there a reason for that? Or is there a fix?

When you get to the level of the gray car, it will only merge two Gray cars into one. Every time. So you are loosing valuable momentum. So now I am stuck with 6 gray Cars that I am afraid to merge. Stuck in limbo.
