The game

This is a game I found while bored out of my mind. I was like” oh this looks neat let’s take a look”. It started downloading and I was like meh but then I realized that I CAN PLAY THIS OFFLINE. And I was like. “ OMG YESSSSSSS” as I had been searching for a game like this. While playing I realized. Omg this is like XCOM and I love XCOM so I was very happy to find this out. This is a neat game which involves base building and what not which is sweet. Only thing I think that would make this better would be different maps, a little more classes (as there is only sniper, scout, and heavy) and maybe something else idk. Better graphics? Idk. Great game though because while playing I never even saw a thing asking for a rating. Well now I’m a little ways into it and for some reason I can’t collect the rewards to some quests. Is still a good game but the grind is a bit much. Feels a little to much like a computer game and something that you have to spend weeks on in order to get one weapon.

I was so excited to read reviews comparing the game play of this game to my all-time favorite game, XCOM. And, from a basic game play standpoint, that holds true. I had hesitated on this game in the past because of the pay-to-progress model, but the developer posted something about two months ago saying the had modified the game such that you would never have to make an in-app purchase. I should have known it was too good to be true. I was definitely enjoying this game for about 24-36 hours. And then... I haven't even reached level 6 and suddenly, without any natural progression, I am in missions that are impossible to complete without paying $.99 for the Olympus Reviver at least once, and usually multiple times. I am nowhere near to having enough credits in the game to upgrade for the current missions or purchase these Olympus Revivers to get through the missions. On top of this, when you get alerts that the characters want to tell you something the text no longer shows up. I always turn the sound off on my games because of when and where I play. Not knowing what the characters are trying to tell you makes the game difficult to follow. And, I am not playing on ancient hardware: iPhone XS with OS 13.6.1. Let me be clear, I don't mind paying for a good game. I have paid for XCOM on multiple platforms for many of the different versions of the game. But, I would rather pay a known cost up front than be nickel and dimed to death just to survive missions. Once again I will return to the XCOM world, even though I have played through it many times. It's a fair and fun way to play my favorite style of game. So long, Mercs of Boom and Game Insight.

Though mercs of boom may have a bad name, but the presentation and gameplay are actually pretty solid. There arent many good turn based tactics games on mobile but this one does a good job of keeping things consistently fun. Like xcom, MOB is fully voiced which was a pleasant surprise. Combat is fun. Pulling off 1 shot kills when ducking into cover feels great. After a few hours my only real gripes are that the story is kinda bland and that its so similar to xcom that it lacks originality. With that said im still having a lot of fun with it.

Starts well, becomes unplayable.

As many have said, at a certain point you simply have to pay real money to get anywhere in the game. Unfortunately, even then it wouldn’t make sense unless you shelled out a ton of cash. Ultimately, it’s probably a good $10 game, after removing all the pay to play silliness.

Good game but Can’t Even Play

I’ve played this game many moons ago but stopped for various reasons. I very much enjoyed it as an XCOM fan! There’s my review... Now I want to give it a try again, but it won’t download to my IPad Pro! Even tried my IPhone 10. App installed fine, but it stalls out at 196mb when the extra assets are required. I’ve honestly done everything you could think of to get this game...so good luck! There’s my criticism... Any advice would be welcome!

Great game but what about...

I used to have this game years ago before it was renamed, and I loved it! I recently tried to get it again but couldn’t find it under the old name and I was terrified that it was removed! I am so glad to have this game back! But I have a suggestion for gameplay features. The ability to sell resources would be amazing when there is not enough room for resources and not enough credits to make anything. But I would understand if this might unbalance the game. Either way I would love to hear what you think!
