Sends you back to homepage after 3 minutes of being dormant

random customer 2018

It’s an incredibly useful source for searching information on a variety of medical conditions/medications, but unfortunately the app will reset itself and take you back to the homepage if you exit the app and leave it dormant for even 2-3 minutes, rather than save your place within the app. From what I’ve seen, that’s a result of some iOS memory management “feature” that you can’t turn off or adjust in the app settings. Regardless of whose fault it is, the app will be of little use to providers if you cannot exit the app even for a minute or two before losing your place. I can’t bookmark every single condition I want to look up. This really need to be fixed.

More informative and user friendly app...

DOESN’T SAVE YOUR PLACE!!

I love the Merck Manual and one star isn’t fair but I have had it with this app. If you are reading a topic and then switch to another app for a minute, when you return the Merck app will take you back to the home page. For me it makes the app virtually unusable.

Good, but has tech problems

I have a patient who meets criteria for caffeine addiction. When I enter “caffeine” in the app search box, I see only the choice of info on caffeine in pregnancy. I have to go the long way around, via terms like “caffeine addiction” and/or “caffeine dependence.” That implies that the user already knows what they are looking for. A good search engine, like a good index in a printed book, doesn’t presume that. KSshrink

A must have for health students and professionals

The latest optimization makes all this valuable information look wonderful. Most of the info can be checked without internet connection. Easy navigation, very well organized subjects and a search option to precisely find what you are looking for. Definitely worth having it for reliable reference.

Took about 10 attempts to get it to download content

The previous version was fine. This version downloads its content on first launch. And I had a very difficult time getting it to complete. It took 11 attempts before it finally completed. That said the new version is very nice if you can get the content to download.

Thank you for the great update!

Best medical app in the store, just got better! As a doctor, this is the only app I ever need. Thank you!

Differential Zombie Diagnosis/Fact checker...now broken

6/16/16 update: made the mistake of "updating" this is more like backdating. Also of note is that it is now distributed by merck co. and not the original developers. I don't know if thats a good thing as they distibute the content for free, no real incentive for them to do it well, and it appears all of the content is now free and will not be developed in a manner that is consitent with the original $30 pricetag. Honestly just looks like a webview app tbh. Downloads 90% in 5mins then 5mins for the last 10%, guessing it downloads all related pictures//video content (hopefully?) The only thing this app is missing to make it perfect until apple completely overhauls the operating system again would be: 1. Type-ahead/predictive search 2. iCloud syncing of history/favorites 5/6/14 update: everything in the app appears to have been updated to iOS 7 looks except the bottom bar in the iPad version (bar with favorites, share and index quick links). Great job, haven't seen a walking dead marathon since I wrote this review, but thought it serendipitous that the developers updated on the day I finished fundamentals of nursing. This app was valuable for writing up pathology cards for clinicals this semester. I imagine ill be referencing it some during pharmacology this summer as well. Keep up the great work Old review: Was inspired to write this review because of a hilarious convo I had with the developer. It boils down to me requesting "type-ahead." Reason: I was watching a walking dead marathon on amc and was having trouble spelling hemorrhagic fever (eating pizza at the time). And was checking the etiology of it to see if Swine Flu produces hemorrhagic episodes from either the the mouth or eyes (or any other orifices for that matter). Needless to say, this app is great for fact checking the show ? Needless to say I didn't look into it very long as the developer/customer support is extremely responsive. I soon found myself, and friends I was watching the marathon with, reduced to tearful laughter as I read the convo out loud. Everyone thought it was hilarious I was using the premier medical reference, with over 300 contributors from the medical community, for the purpose of differential diagnosis of zombies... -thanks Bradley, definitely the hardest I've laughed in awhile. P.S. I did buy this app for the nursing program, but have yet to use it in that context. However, it's got applicability from bookmarking walking dead related diseases all the way to reading about Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (family friends young child has this). Thanks developers, for the laughs and the great medical reference (I see it saving me a huge amount of time). Additionally, it's a more than viable reference when power's out (just keep external battery packs laying around the house)

Gone downhill

I've got an idea! Let's replace a perfectly good descriptive icon with a generic three slashes! I have no idea what the app is now. Oh, and rather than provide the actual data, make the user have to be online to get the download. Oh, and have the download stop at 90% and hang.
