Don’t bother. $5/month subscription fee to move past the first level. My kid loved this game, but the price is far too steep to play long term. You do get access to around 16 other apps for this fee, but I doubt my kid would use all of them often enough to make it worth the price. Sad that we can’t get this app for a flat fee.

So there are two versions of this game a free one and a premium one for $4.99. I got the free one and then finished the first part to discover that if I want to unlock the rest of the game I have to pay $7.99. If you think you’ll like it and want to spend money on it then go ahead and buy the $4.99 version. Otherwise awesome game!! I love word games and RPGs so this game is the perfect balance between the two. Not to mention a wonderful learning tool for kids. My 3 yr old loves to help me spell words. Great job guys!

MasterSwords is the gameplay of the long missing Bookworm Adventures mixed with the humor/jokes from the people behind Kingdom of Loathing (asymmetric). Do you like Boggle? Do you like fantasy role-playing games? Do you like killing a skeleton and getting a sweet sword? All that wrapped in a nice little educational game that my kids and I played the heck out of in a earlier incarnation. At long last available for iOS!! Give it a try!

...or the next best thing, anyway... I also played the PC version of this (Word Realms) and always thought it would be a perfect mobile game. Glad to see it has happened! Now let me get back to hurting monsters with my words..... (Also, hi El, from HH)
A great educational game that doesn't feel like one

My three kids all love this game... And they typically HATE educational games. The character building aspect does a fantastic job of adding a traditional RPG feel, and the game's humor keeps them engaged and laughing. I can't recommend this highly enough!

A fun word-fighting game

This game can be as deep as you want it to be. The main story progresses nicely, and ramps well for younger players. However, there exists side content that is incredibly challenging.
