Overall great but..

This app is a life saver. The agitation timer in itself is the best thing I've ever purchased. HOWEVER, and I hope this gets fixed; ironically the online (you know free?) version of the chart seems to be more updated with film variety. It also seems like many reputable film names (I.e: vivitar, etc. ) got left out of the mix while a lot of unknowns are actually there. Hopefully updates will fix this in time. Overall though, this app is amazing and totally worth the download to anyone stepping foot in the darkroom EVER! :)

Fantastic

Such a good app and the database is a lifesaver - no more looking up data sheets for base dev times. Only thing I would request is an analog view option and a 5-second countdown timer option. Both of those would complete this for me!

Fantastic!

I recently started developing my B&W film at home and I consider this app a must-have. Having the dev info, temperature conversions and (best of all) the timer all together in one easy to use app makes life so much easier. Well worth the price!

Crude & Uninspired

Cristian Ioja

Great idea, actually wished it would be available for years. I am a long time shopper on digitaltruth and have used their mass charts all the time. This application is crude, uninspired and more of a hassle to use than a simple timer already on the iPhone. Example: let us say that at this very moment I want to develop HP5+ in HC-110 B. We know it should be 1 to 7 on stock solution. Try to get the application to show you out of bottle ml of water to developer while working so you can work on multiple rolls.. You end up having to note the solution elsewhere. If you have done that already, what's the app for? I know how long in the stop bath, you know how long in the fixer.. I was hoping for something in the update. : (

Surprisingly good

Despite the negative reviews and the somewhat steep $9 price tag, I went ahead and bought this app. So far, I'm loving it. Will it ever replace all the other real timers on your darkroom? Of course not. But it's awesome for anyone like me who forgets if it's been three and a half minutes since I started or four and half minutes. Also, you can customize every development scheme to a pretty good extent, which means I can even use it for developing color film too! I gave it four stars because it's not the prettiest app in the store and because of the price tag (though, it's still one of the cheapest things you can buy for the darkroom these days).

Amazing

I use this app with my jobo rotary processor CPP-2 and it's amazing. My life has become so much easier. I'm able to keep track of everything, even when I'm not paying attention. I wish it had a color processing mode. It's a must buy for film enthusiast.

GREAT APP!!!

I have been using this app for over a year now and I must say I can not understand why there is all bad and neg reviews. I have not had any problems with any aspect of this app,it works like a champ !!! Maybe if the bad reviewers would learn to use there complicated phones and turn off some of the useless settings they would find that this is a GREAT tool.... I have been developing film for over 30 years now with Manual and automatic equipment depending on the process required, this program fits the Bill for all my Zone work and custom developing needs, Thank You to the Developers of this Program..with the database all in one place is awesome......... And to the negative dopes. use it in a iPod touch or a Samsung Galaxy 5.0 and check your settings!!! you will not have a problem!!!!

Extremely useful, could be made even better

Lets start by saying that from a usefulness perspective, this app is a 5. Keeping track of your time and agitation mid process is super helpful. Aggitation reminders are very nice and very useful. If you are on the fence about this, go for it. I found it worth while! Almost every step in the process is as customizable as it needs to be. I've given it a 4 as I think a few simple updates could make this app even better: 1. Make it easier to determine mix ratios for developer For those that mix things, like HC-110, just before use, the app assumes you are starting from a stock dilution (pre mixed type B for example). Make it easier to determine the proper ratios. It can currently be done by tapping the developer, then tapping dilution, then changing the ratio by hand, but you have to remember the dilution. This could be made more straightforward. 2. Show the aggitation marks on the progress bar Having little milestones on the timeline would make it easier to tell how your aggitation scheme will work. This would go great with my next one. 3. Make the timeline bigger While in sequence, have the active step timeline larger, spanning the full width of the screen. This would make it easier to read. I dont need to see my film type and dilution while developing. Put the name at the top, have the sequence steps as items in a list with progress bars for each. Minimize the progress bars for all steps not in process. 4. Have an option to prevent sleep while between development steps Between developer and stop bath, my phone goes to sleep. I realize i could change my sleep setting, but this would be a straightforward option that would prevent me from putting my chemically fingers on my phone mid development. 5. Put a brightness slider right in the app for "safelight" modes I don't print, but if i did, it would be nice to have the slider right in the app. It's still a brilliant app. These things would make it much better.

Needs improvement

Stone804

This would be great but it says 8000 films and I don't see nearly that many. You can't search by brand name as names often change, and there is no old stock film times, I bought this looking for the times for GAF aerial film times, I can't search by GAF, Ansco, or AGFA but by the film specific names, like APX or Pan F but all my roll says is "Type 2913" and "Speed 200" I don't know the name for "type 2913" nor what it was called under the Ansco or AGFA label. Any newer film times are easy to search for its the older films that need more info, and giving multiple search options like by film, if you only shoot Kodak it's. Pain to look through all the ilford names etc. Thanks but I think the 8,000 films was misleading, I assumed in 8,000 there would be at least ONE GAF product... But I can't search for that ... You also can't add your own film to the "my times" if it isn't on the list so even if I could find the times for the GAF film I couldn't input it into the app. It doesn't allow for calculations based on different time/temperatures in adverse conditions etc, all the stuff you wouldn't inherently know as a developer is missing. Great idea, keep updating!

Really love this app...Attending photography school all the local college, and use this app a lot.

If you do any developing at all I highly recommend the app. It has a lot of common developers and films built in, and is fairly customizable.
