Pros: tracks everything well, customizable beyond what I was expecting, iCloud sync, charts to visualize progress Cons: pricier than other apps (but I’m leaning toward “worth it”), list view is not scrollable but instead broken up by month I am still in my free trial period but I think I will let it go past that. $9.99 a year seems to be a reasonable fee for an app that can replace several others. The freedom this app allows with customization is amazing! It has some basic suggestions preloaded but if you are familiar with the subject you are tracking and haven’t found an app that quite fits what you do, you can make this app do it! The charts are a nice bonus for keeping track of numerical items, like exercises and weight and finances. I’m still playing around with it but the user interface is pretty well thought out and not as intimidating as it could be (and is on some competitors’ apps). I like the iCloud syncing capability so I can use it on my iPhone while on the go and pick right up where I left off on my iPad when I get home. So far I’m using this regularly to track my weight, daily diet and exercise routine. I’m thinking of trying it out with finances next, and maybe even keeping a journal. I’m taking it a step at a time but I like that if I wanted to keep just about everything in my life that can be itemized listed in one app I can do it! I have tried clunkier and flashier apps and given up on them. Most have been deleted though some still linger buried in a folder and never see the light of day. I use a few regularly but I always wished I could tweak one or two things. With Lumen Tracker I’m actually feeling like I’m not wasting my time with an app. There is always an “app for that”, but it’s not always a good app. This one is a good one.

WAY Too Expensive.

Live and Grow

I have to say that I agree with at least one other reviewer. I was a huge fan of the old version of Lumen Trails and happily anticipating this new one. But I am not a big enough fan to spend $84 ($6.99 on a monthly basis) a year for an online subscription. I am, frankly, appalled. For $84 I could purchase enough apps to outfit my entire device -- and then some. I notice that this app has a companion, Lumen Notes, at the same price. That means that the price for the suite is $168 annually. I can purchase a pair of good shoes for less and own them outright, too! NOTE: There may possibly be an error. The blurb on the App Store quotes the subscription price as $2.99/month, but offer on the app, itself, quotes it at $6.99, as does the receipt for the free trial. If the price is $2.99 and not $6.99, the annual rental price for one app is $36 and $72 for both.

Something You Should Know...

There was an older version of this app that included features from both Lumen Notes and Lumen Tracker, called Lumen Trails. It is an incredibly flexible app that I use daily. Naturally, I gave it a glowing 5-star review. I bought Lumen Trails for a one-time fee, but it has since been pulled from the App Store. In the Lumen Trails app, the creators posted a notification assuring users it would still be supported, but I am already experiencing issues with the new IOS 10 release. This is my first time having issues with a new software update. So much for promises of "continued support." This company, Lumen Spark, split the features of Lumen Trails into two separate apps (Lumen Notes & Lumen Tracker) and want users to pay a monthly fee for each app totaling $6/month. I'm sad to see them joining the greedy App Store trend toward monthly subscriptions and multiple app releases, rather than putting all the features into one app for a one-time fee. If they simply came out with an updated Lumen Trails v2 for a new one-time price, I'd buy it in a heartbeat! However, I cannot support this penny pinching business practice. So many of my favorite apps have become subscription-based services, that if I paid for them all, I'd be throwing down $282 a month! I use all the features of Lumen Trails interchangeably, and don't want to have to open (and pay monthly for) two different apps to see the information I need. Separating the features makes many of the uses I had for Lumen Trails quite useless. Lumen Spark lost a loyal customer today. I'll keep using Lumen Trails until it stops working, which appears to be soon. :(

Why I Prefer the Older Version

Live and Grow

1. Cost, which has been amply discussed. 2. Privacy. I used the old app to track expenditures, family details, journal items, and health matters. I could keep these lists locked on a single app. I would not commit this information to an online server. So, I need to find a new app for recording more private information. 3. Flexibility. I used to be able to keep some apps on a single device and then sync other apps via Airdrop on several devices. So, I got to decide what was shared among devices and what was not. Having this flexibility was a large part of what made this app so helpful to me. 4. Cannot use category icons on new app.

Questionable business practice

As a long time user of the origin daily tracker app, I am disappointed to see the vendor put in ads and require monthly subscription to remove them in the most recent update, apparently as an effort to render the old app as annoying as the new one, and to bother users to switch to the new app. Given that I don't see huge UI or functional improvements over the original version, it is no wonder that user wants to keep using the old version that does not require a monthly subscription. But they just covertly nixed that and upset one of their loyal user.

Deceptive Practices

The developer, Lumen Spark, previously sold the older version of this app (8 versions in different colors with slightly different names) for as much as $19.99. Then they introduced this app as v10.3 and simultaneously updated the other versions to v10.3, which they described as "Added an option to use Lumen Trails for free with ads, and introduced an optional monthly subscription, which removes ads and supports future development." But that updated simply introduced advertisements (and no new features) in an attempt to push existing purchasers of the app to buy a paid subscription to remove the ads. They did not ADD an "option to use Lumen Trails for free with ads"--existing paid customers could already use the app without ads.

I have to agree... Disappointing

I paid for Lumen Trails, the full version, and enjoyed using it. Now there are ads on both this and my Lumen Trails that I paid for. No thanks. Not giving any more money to get rid of the ads out of the app I had that didn't have ads. Not a good way to keep customers. Removing from my phone and using Note-ify, even though it doesn't have all the features. Bummer.

Bad app

Not worth your time or the $2/month secret surcharge.

New Lumen Tracker

I am a long term user of Lumen Tracker (old version), I have downloaded the (new version) as a trail. I don't like the monthly payment system and downloading of my personal information on an unknown server. I would prefer backing up on iCloud. I also found some problems on the reports page. Example when I workout for 30 mins and enter it the graph makes a small bar, at 40 mins the bar is slightly tall and taller above 45 mins. The scale for the graph needs adjustment. It would have been useful if there is way to make the scrip 'Bold' and in different colors.

Needs improvement

Asks too often to write a review. I want to to be able to change fonts.
