Longbow

Longbow is a fun and challenging 3D archery game for phones (iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad) and tablet devices.
Category Price Seller Device
Games $1.99 Jason Allen iPhone, iPad, iPod

Adjust your aim, draw your arrow, and strike distant targets to score big!

Shoot for the bullseye in the village, knock over targets on the castle wall, or destroy barrels from horseback along the 4 kilometer stretch of mountainous terrain. Longbow's three distinct stages are easy to learn but challenging to master. You'll need to consider the wind, distance, and even your trusty steed's speed to consistently score high! Can you shoot an apple off someone's head? Turn a scarecrow into a pin cushion? These challenges and more await!

→ Use your fingers to aim and draw your bow.
→ Three difficulty levels for each game mode. (Try expert mode for an extra challenge!)
→ On-line leaderboards!
→ Detailed 3D graphics and sound!
→ Looks great on phones and tablets!

Can you master the bow and become a true archer?

HOW TO PLAY:

Slide one finger across the screen to aim.
Press the arrow icon in the corner to draw your bow.
Release the button to fire.

In village mode:

Check the wind speed and direction in the top left corner of the screen.
At the highest difficulty level, the swaying trees, sound of the wind, and debris kicked up by gusts will be your only clues.
Expert mode removes the bow cross-hairs and wind speed from the screen. You'll need to use experience and intuition to score big!
You can earn an extra 10 points if you manage to strike the apple (...not the Adam's apple) in the bonus round.

In castle mode:

Each round is 90 seconds long.
Shoot all targets in a set quickly to score big!
Striking the scarecrow awards bonus points at the end of a round depending where the arrows hit.
Accuracy is important!

In horse archery mode:

Shoot the targets along the highland circuit.
The further away you are when the arrow hits a target, the more bonus points are awarded.
Keep striking targets to maximize the bonus awarded.
Higher difficulty levels increase the horse's speed.

Needs more!

Fun at first, but gets boring after running up the difficulty levels. The graphics are nice and physics seem believable but, there needs to be more targets to choose from other than the same bullseye target and the bonus apple. Live targets perhaps? There also needs to be a way to customize rounds, such as wind, number of tries, location or infinite bonus round. New locations would be awesome. Could you also add death match round aka like the "bowman" game? Nice work and fun game, looking forward to updates!

Same
Day Enternet

It does need more levels, so I am waiting for the castle version.

Long Bow
N/AAAAAAAAAA

I like the game, BUT. If you would put up a triangle flag to show the wind info with the flags movement and position, like they have at tournaments, rather or along with the wind speed this would be more realistic and help for people who only shoot that way. In the robin hood level there is no flag or leaf movement to use to help your aim. Another nice thing would be to have a level with no winds, I get tired of the wind all the time.

Needs tutorial
Jennifer Robb

Interesting idea but it needs an in game tutorial of how to work it. As the target gets further away, I find that the arrow falls short more often than not and I was not able to find any info. On how to correct that (pull bowstring out more, aim higher etc.)

Terrible game play

After one game I had my fill.

Cool but crashes every time
TroyToYou

Can play through one set of rounds on my iPad 3 but it crashes as soon as you try to replay.

Inferior to Bowmaster in every way

Drawing bow control fails utterly: no intuitive feel to it, seems to fire with random power and no way to control it

Absolutely Horrendous

No way to really aim the now at all. It seems as if you're expected to rely upon the environment to figure out how to shoot the longbow, but obviously there is no way to immerse yourself in the environment. I can't feel the wind upon my skin. I can't feel how hard I'm pulling on the string. I can't figure out the physics in this game. With all of that said, stay far away from this game. I'll be deleting it myself after I finish typing this review. Sorry dev.

Hmm...
Rziggy80

I'm curious why my archer pulls back on the string like an infant, and why it's randomly more powerful so I over shoot, or it just pretty much hits the ground just in front of me.

This could be a good game

If there was a way to draw the bow to control the power I could see this game being fun. I will probably just delete this.
