Great read-along text function & really cute art. A lot of the story can help to talk to kids about different cultures, or moving someplace new, or even climate change- but it is not heavy handed with the themes. Mostly a cute story about a lost polar bear who loves his dad. :)

I know "Kleiner Eisbär" from Germany and was delighted to see one story come to life on the ipad. However, I really think the interaction in the story is rather minimal and my biggest disappointment was that the story is only in English Really needs the option to pick another language (German please).

This is the first app of this kind I've ever viewed, so I have nothing to compare it with. But I found it charming and the interactive features add to the fun. It probably helps kids learn to read, as the text being read by the narrator turns red. The fishing game is fun as well. The story doesn't progress very far before you have to pay for more. I didn't pay, so I don't know if it's worth it, but I might have done so for a child.
