A new skin on an old genre

It's cute and that's great, but it's another boring scroll along that you're going to delete in 10 minutes.
Good concept, poor execution

Little Big Monster tries to put a new spin on endless distance games by including cute characters, a light but charming story, and a transformation mechanic that's pivotal to gameplay. In terms of design, that's not a bad idea! But then, it fails to live up to the basics of the genre. Jerky controls, illogical block patterns, less logical praise for your achievements, poor handling of the camera (allowing for death-by-camera), no bonus for perfect collection of pickups or hearts, no stat tracking other than deaths and score, a wide hitbox on the player character, and poor handling of the game's music system all mar this game. Then, they throw in the dreaded low visual contrast level at the end, letting us know this wasn't quite thought through. Still, it's not a bad execution in conventional senses of the term; it just severely lacks polish. Had the authors thought things a bit further through and programmed the game more cleanly, it would be a pretty good representation of its genre.

I saw this game when it was free and thought it looked cute :) It's a really cute game, but it's a little short and the graphics leave a lot to be desired. It could've been executed a little better but it's still fun. I'm going in a few updates there will be more to do.

Really fun game. A breath of fresh air in the "running" genre of iOS games. I can't quite put my finger on it, but these guys are definitely onto something.
