great learning tool

whyme007

if you want to improve your listening skills, this is a good app to try. however, do not let your young children play alone, they might think the teacher is too offensive with her scolding language. I'm an adult, and I love it when the teacher gets upset when I get the answer wrong. Her expressions are hilarious. It encourages me to try harder to get the next answer correct.

Good app, terrible teacher

LisaPudil

I'm a teacher and I would be fired if I said those things to my students. I have iPads in my classroom and I have decided to remove your app because of the teacher. I like everything else about the app, but you have got to tone down the teacher, or maybe have settings where people can choose the teacher they want.

concerned

I think the idea is great, the questioning is wonderful, but that teacher. It ruins the app. She is so rude and discouraging, if I were an English language learner or a student that struggles with listening I would quit. I think there should be an option for the rude teacher or someone more encouraging. Makes teachers look bad, not to mention the provocative outfit she's wearing! I don't remember any of my teachers looking or acting like that! If I had one like that I would report her!

GREAT for secondary Language Imp Students

Speechlady

I am a speech-language pathologist who LOVES this app for working with my middle school language learning impaired students. They laugh at the in-app teacher's reaction to the mistakes - makes them try harder when I tell them, "Watch out, that teacher is mean!" Makes it more fun for them. Love the topic areas as well. Wish there were more listening training apps like these! I use it to work on helping them learn to support their listening with visualization of what they are hearing. I Wish it gave the options of also hearing/seeing the questions before the listening task since this would help them focus and listen for specific information.

Fun but challenging

Inquirenda

I tried out the beginning level and thought the vocabulary was a little challenging for ESL learners. Everything I listened to was monologue. There is one more or less generic photo for each listening but details are not illustrated. For example, one section was about squirrels. There was a picture of three squirrels in a nest, which supported the general concept but there were no photos of nesting materials which was also mentioned. I recommend this app for intermediate to advanced ESL learners.

Love Lite but...

I LOVE the Lite version, and my students love the challenge! But when I went to buy the premium version, words like "nudity", "profanity", "drug & alcohol" references kept me from getting it. Even if it's infrequent, I can't use that in my classroom. Clean it up, and I'll buy it!!
