Like it. Works better than I thought.

Lots of people don't seem to like this much, but I have had zero problems. I have really enjoyed this, definitely better than abruptly waking up to blaring music or beeping. I would give it 5 stars except for three things: 1) once you set the alarm, you have to be done w your phone. If you need the phone for anything you have to reset it. To be fair, it is very easy to reset as it keeps your settings, but still. 2) you cannot set alarms for more than once- in other words, to be every day, or weekdays, etc. This would be a great addition. 3) the app is "running" from the time you set it until you wake up and turn it off. No other alarm clocks need to do this, don't really understand. Must keep phone charging while using this app. Fix these three things, and I'd give it 5 stars for sure.

Don't Buy it if You Need an Alarm

None of the apps in this category were well reviewed but this was the best rated of what was left. It was absolutely useless and even worse, blocked the alarm on the Apple clock that I set for back-up. Don't throw your dollar down the sewer too! The Apple App Store should be ashamed of foisting garbage like this on us. Gotta run now- for some reason I'm late.

doesn't work well on iPhone 5

The flash light is only turned on when you unlock the phone. If you want to use it as an actual "light alarm" then it doesn't work. it works fine as a normal alarm.

Great on iPhone 4s - makes dark mornings easier to wake up to

Hollance

This fall it was just too hard to wake up on time to a dark room, so I decided I needed some kind of light alarm. I looked for normal, physical alarm clocks with lights, but they were all pricey so I decided to try a phone app first. I am glad I did - this one, though basic, was cheap and is doing the job. There are a couple quirks but overall I'm very happy with it. It lets you set the time you want the light to be brightest (and sound the loudest) and also a period of time before the alarm time to start ramping up the light and sound. I set that for 10 minutes, so 10 minutes before I want to get up, the app starts turning up the light and ramping up the sound. You can chose the alarm sound - I use the bird song one. The light will ramp up in jumps, but if you sleep through that, at your alarm time you can set it to vibrate. That's what I ususally wake up to - the buzzing. But it is so much niceer to wake up to a room with some light in it (from the app). :) There is a fall back alarmyou can set that will buzz/sound again 10 (or your choice) minutes later if you want. That said - a couple quirks or things to do that have made this app work for me - 1) it will light the screen up and optionally use the iPhone's flash light. (I have an iPhone 4s). even at max the screen isn't bright enough in my view, so I use the flash light - and set the phone screen down, flash light up, when I set the alarm. 2) once the alarm is set, you can't close the app, you need to leave it on screen for it to run. If you do something else on the phone, you've disabled the alarm. I just set it as I put the phone down at night, the last thing I do with the phone. 3) if your phone's volumn is set super low, it seems the alarm sound doesn't get very loud - I'm not totally sure about this because I've been mostly waking up when the alarm time hits and the ap makes the phone vibrate and I don't hear my bird alarm before it, even the times I wake up just before it buzzes - so just set the vibrate option too and you're covered. 4) if you use the flashlight option and hit snooze when the alarm goes off, it turns off the flash and plunges you back into darkness during the snooze time. That might be a perk - me I'd rather it kept the light on when snoozing while I get used to the idea of waking up :). With those couple quirks worked with - this app is doing great for me.

No Longer Reliable on IOS 8

rwmccoy

I’ve used this app and liked it for a long time despite infrequent updates. It did what id did well. Since upgrading to IOS 8, the app has started terminating during the night meaning no wakeup light or sound. I’d really like to see an update for IOS 8.

Reliable alarm

Whoville peacekeeper

I've used this alarm for the past year, with no worries or missed appointments. I gently wake up either from the gradual light or the sound of waves, which is wonderful. Great way to begin the day.

Used to love it but

Iam just saying

I've used this app for over two years now. I used to love it but now it shut off sometime during the night and I've over slept 3 mornings in a row. I thought it was my fault the first night and then it happened again and I thought something happened with the phone so I tried it one more night and the same thing happened. The night light is too bright at night and I wish they could just shut the phone down and then have the alarm go off and the light come on slowly at the alarm time.

Too many quirks

PSDiva

I want to like this app but it has too many quirks. The first issue is that if you turn the brightness down but then go back into the app, the brightness is always set back to 50%. This is really a pain becuase the room is usually dark and I'm blinded every time I want to make an adjustment. Second issue is that you can't set the snooze longer than 5 minutes. If you do snooze it, the light stays on and it's almost immediately back in alarm mode. Third issue is that the you have to leave your phone unlocked for the alarm to work. I don't mind the big clock display but it would be nicer if you could dim that even more and if you have to go into your phone for any reason, you have to remember to go back is and reactivate the alarm. The final thing is just that I don't think the interface is that nice. It's very white and bright, which again, if you're in a dark room and making any adjustments, you are being blinded. On the plus side, I do like that fact that the alarm uses light and the sounds. The best part was when I had the sound set to cat purring and my boyfriend said, "What the heck is that? A chupacabra?"

Best app ever!

Waking up with light has changed my life. I started off with a light up alarm a couple of years ago. My puppy chewed the chord. I was going to purchase another at the cost of 95.00. But ran across this app before the purchase was made. It works perfect. I haven't had on glitch. Its always with me so if I travel I can continue waking with light. 5 STARS to its creator, and thank you. It was worth the $6.99, and them some.

Wake up easy

Suzseaq

The gradual increase in light makes waking up so much easier. Hearing the birds is so much kinder than any traditional alarm sound. Love this app!
