License Prep

Study on your own terms, regardless of where you are. License Prep is a fully functional, up to date, study aid for all of the US Coast Guard (USCG) Engineering Exams. Whether you are studying for your first couple QMED endorsements, or gearing up for your 1st/CHENG ticket, this app is a great tool to facilitate your success. Unlike other apps that make you buy all of the sections up front, including ones you don't need, License Prep is tailored to fit your needs and you can purchase individual sections as you go. And once you purchase a section, its yours, we do not operate on a subscription sales model like other programs. Tests are divided by name and color with QMED in Green, Assistant in Blue, and Chief in Red. The questions within each module are up to date based on the latest NMC release. I am always digging around for new illustrations which the USCG has yet to release. We find that ads are annoying and unnecessary, as such they are not in place.

IMPORTANT:
When you are making your appointment to test at your local REC, be sure to contact the NMC and request permission to take the post-2014 exams. This app is based entirely off the most recent question bank. If you do not request the most recent material and make it clear to them what you want, you will likely be given an old set of exams, which contain a different, older set of information. Good luck!

I really like the formatting of this app. It's more up-to-date than Upgrade U and the developer responds quickly to feedback. I like how I don't need to be connected to the internet to go through the questions.

I had a textbook that I ordered from Marine Education Texts which was helpful but had I not found this app, there’s no way I would’ve passed. I can’t thank you enough. Keep up the good work. I’ll be purchasing all the engineering sections for my next upgrade!

Very expensive study tool comparatively

I’m not super crazy about this app. The only time I’ve found it helpful was when I was flying and didn’t have data to study online. Along with paying for the app, you have to then buy each topic you want to study: Generals QMED, Generals A/E, Generals Chief, Electrical QMED, etc. Each topic is $4, as well. And then when you go to study a topic, it’s a random quiz. You can’t take a quiz on a specific subtopic you are weak in. I would not suggest using it if you’re coming in cold without any other materials. Get the books or go on Seasources to study topics you need more help on than others and then come back to this app.
