Letter Workbook is an interactive educational app which teaches toddlers and children how to form and write letters. Through the simple, interactive guide children will learn how to write their ABC, improve vocabulary and have fun along the way!

How it works

Children can choose between uppercase and lowercase letters and each letter has interactive dots which show the child how to create the shape of the letter with their finger. This is in the same direction and format as they will learn at school, based on the UK national curriculum. Once they have practised the shape of the letter, they are able to follow the dots to create the letter outline. Next, a clear audio instruction asks the child to trace the letter without the guide. This will help your child to develop their letters quickly, step by step.

When a letter is completed the child will receive a green tick icon with sound indicating that the letter traced is correct. When the letter is traced incorrectly there will be a red cross icon which encourages the child to look at previous examples and trace the letter again.

The exercises can be repeated as many times as the child likes so that they are able to write and recognise letters in no time!

Trickery

Before you install the free app. You only get letters A-L. Forcing you to purchase an upgrade! Be careful it's a waste of downloading time. Time that you can be searching for a way better app.

Nice and simple

Good app to help kids learning to write

OT

I am an OT in the school system and have found this app to be motivating with my kids (just using the free version), however when working on correct letter formation I don't like that it allows the student to start at the bottom and draw upwards. We strongly enforce top down when working on formation in out district. Another feature that is nice is the speed component that it requires you to use, but it would be helpful is you could adjust the speed so beginning writers were more successful. If these features were fixed I'd definitely purchase this app.

Love the instant feedback, has small issues
Has foster kids

I was looking for a program to allow my daughter to practice tracing her letters. She's a bit stubborn on education, so we have to find interactive and fun ways to introduce (slip it in) skills to her. A lot of programs have reporting functions, but I found they weren't really reporting on stroke movements. I wanted something to help with correct formation. Too many toys and apps give the tracing base, but a child can scribble anything on the screen and get a "good job" back without ever being required to fulfill the basic requirement. My son used to see right through all these products and drove us crazy. This app recognizes actual strokes and gives the kids instant feedback. My daughter immediately responded. She doesn't like the "x"'s and prefers getting the check marks. Sometimes it is too sensitive and says a letter isn't correct that looks very close (or perfect). I'm not sure what is up in those cases, but just tell my girl to keep trying. It would be nice if it gave a little more time before registering a letter as complete. My daughter was righting a B and drew the initial stem. She hadn't quite put her stylist back at the top to continue the B, when the program thought she was done and marked it incorrect. This happened again on the K. I think a little more time to draw the letter before it registering a completed letter would remedy the situation. I had to tell my daughter to speed up her writing (a little counter-intuative for a 4 year old). This is a great App, and I would have purchased the upgrade anyway due to the wonderful true reporting. I wish the upgrade wasn't an in-app purchase. We don't allow in-app purchases as a safe guard. I didn't like having to turn it off, even for a moment, to download the update. Please offer this ability from the App store in the future.

I like that it grades my 4/12 yr old because that motivates him. I would recommend this app

Character recognition has bugs
Say dad

Great concept. The app could use a training mode for younger kids though. My toddler loves the guided letter writing. So training mode would be three chances to use the guided no-fail writing mode and then seven chances where the user tries to follow the outline on their own. Also if you draw a circle face with two eyes, the software thinks you wrote a valid letter "a". This is a bug.

Great for my son, but...

My 3-year old worked on his H for 15 minutes and then was able to write a great H almost immediately. But it is frustrating that it seems there is a time limit where if he takes a couple of seconds in between lines, it automatically shows he did it wrong. I would like it much better if it was more forgiving to let him learn. Overall, good App

I would love to rate this app a 5 star but I want more!! I paid the $1.99 for the upgrade. I would love lowercase letters as well. And a place where I can put letters together to make up my own words like names would be great! This app has a lot of potential so that my son can work on writing words. My son is 7 and is bellow basics in hand writing. I would love to use this app to help build his fine motor skills.

Overpriced
Sourinthone Phonseya

$1.99 for just ABC! Also it doesn't give enough time for tracing the letters. Disappointed!
