'Left to spend' takes an approach to budget management that is completely different from all other budgeting apps. Instead of overloading you with features and options 'Left to spend' cuts to the core of the task and gives you an immediate and intuitive overview of your current financial situation.
To use 'Left to spend', all you need to do is set up a daily allowance that you KNOW won't break your budget. To calculate this amount, simply subtract all your monthly expenses (bills) from your monthly income and divide the result by the number of days in that month. Every day this amount is added to your total allowance. Whenever you spend money you simply open 'Left to spend' and enter the amount, subtracting it from your total allowance. If your total allowance is running low, you need to slow down your spending and wait for your allowances to accumulate. As long as you never get below 0, you'll never have to worry about money again!
Managing a budget should be simple, satisfying and FAST. 'Left to spend' turns its back on bloated budget apps and all their unnecessary features. Do you really want to manage the more advanced aspects of your budget (like recurring bill payments or loan payment plans) on a 4" screen? What good is tracking the location and type of your expenses, if you don't have time to enter them half the times you make a purchase?
'Left to spend' is so fast and easy to use, that you will want to use it every time!

Perfectly Simple.

This app has a very specific purpose: to help certain people responsibly budget in a certain way. It (obviously) is not trying to provide everyone the ability to budget any way they want by adding tons of features. What it does set out to do it accomplishes perfectly. There are only two screens (as shown in screenshots), one with instructions and an input for a weekly spending limit, and the main screen with the amount of spending money left for this week, along with a number pad to input expenses. The problem with the budgets I've used is that they take too much work to maintain. Inputing an expense, date, category, payee, notes, etc. for every purchase I make is not something I get excited about. With a drop-dead simple system like Left to Spend, I can input an expense in 3 seconds and move on with my life. Spending 99 cents on something that will probably save you a lot of money sounds like a good buy to me!

Can please add a support of iOS 3.1.2? I have an original iPhone and I can't use it now, because now it's compatible only with iOS 4. Pleeease do something about it!

I agree with all of the positive reviews, but I would like to second the request for a bit of a history function. Even to just be able to see the last 5-10 expenses so I don't forget or double enter something! Example: I buy a sandwich for lunch. Later, stopping at a store on the way home for work, I ponder whether I added it or not, but I can't tell whether I'd be including this missing data, or charging myself twice as much against the balance! Just a quick list of the last few entries would prevent this, and be pretty unobtrusive.

You can't reset the amount you're allowed to spend each day. At first it wouldnt let me change it at all, now it tells me the changes will take place tomorrow, but never kick in. There isn't a way to correct a mistake if you've made one on this (the settings page) because of that.

Current update has fixed the daily amount bug that made the app unusable. That single fix boosted my rating for a two star review to a four star review. Simple, minimalist app that is great for on-the-go use. Love the minimalist design that doesn't create distraction, but focuses on one thing and does that one thing well. Let's me stay on top of my budget with a glance. Highly recommended! Pros: - Minimalist design with no distractions - Clean interface and easy controls Cons: - Doesn't track what type of purchases you have made so all you know is that you spent money, but not where or on what. Would like to see some sort of log that lets you view what you spent your money on on a daily/weekly summary chart (food, lodging, entertainment, etc).

I was really confused how to use this at first but soon got used to it -- very simple and easy to use, just what I need!! Two possible updates - maybe a list of where I used the money (and how much)?? Like a chance to have an input would be nice. Also a different currency would be very very good -- since I travel internationally a lot, having that function would be superb. Thank you!! Great app. :-)

This is exactly the minimalist budget app I've been lookin for. Ive probably used around 10 different budget apps but stopped using them because I got tired of entering in where I spent my money and decide which category it belongs in. To the developers: please keep this the way it is. Don't add features. There are tons of other apps out there for those of you who want more. Highly recommended.

I would give this app 5 stars if it would allow the user to set the duration of the budget. For example 14 days instead of 31. I budget from paycheck to paycheck. Also please allow changes in the amount per day to take effect immediately instead of the next day. Thanks!

I use this app every day. I only wish that there was an option to make the amount available show up as the numerical badge so you don't even have to load it to see how much you have left.
