Wow Cantonese is HARD!
Shu-Wei-Wu

So I was interested in learning some cantonese... and boy is it hard! One of the hardest parts is the tones, and trust me when I say there are enough to make your tongue sore. Having this application to help me sort out the tones, has been invaluable. Though for me this is just for personal use and amusement, I am sure this application would of great value to even students of Cantonese. If anything this application will get you comfortable with the tones! A Must get in my personal opinion!

So this is Cantonese?
HowlinAttheMoon

Ok I have to admit I have not studied Cantonese ever, and I only got this because it was on the app list... but it seems good! I willupdate this review once I get a little more run time with this.

Very upset with recent update.
BobGeorge1865

When I first downloaded the lite version, I was very happy with the pronunciation, so I immediately purchased the full app. I have two problems with the most recent update. The first issue is that the original voice got replaced. I don't mind that the woman's voice is now a man's voice. I'm just very upset that now the pronunciation is totally off. Cantonese is my first language, so I would know. I bought this app to brush up my reading ability. My second complaint is that after updating the app, my full version is now back to a lite version. Maybe I should have purchased the full version through the AppStore instead of through the lite version. There should be a warning letting people know not to update the full version if it's purchased through the lite version. Is there a way to uninstall the update? Update: After over two months of not using the app because I was furious with the issues that the last update has, I decided to give the app another try. Now I'm ever madder than before because I just noticed that some traditional characters are now simplified! Please put out a new update to fix all these problems! As for now, lite and full version 2.3 are not worth downloading. Until the tones and pronunciation are corrected, this app won't teach people to speak Cantonese accurately.

Great way to learn sounds of the words

Simplified
Dark Tng

The only thing about this application is that the written Cantonese words are simplified Chinese. That is a big problem for me as when I want to learn cantonese for use in hong kong, Cantonese are written in traditional Chinese, not simplified. Now I have restraints from learning the words in fear of mixing it up in the traditional use. I hope there will be a change from the simplified Chinese to traditional Chinese in the next update.

Just got it
Lucia1120

Just got it today, we will see how is it

Grrrrrr!!!!!
ChipmunkNest

I liked this before update. Doesn't work now. New words don't show in wordbank, but old words are intact. Can't get rid of the annoying red "1" showing over app thumbnail. Crashes every time I open the app.

Native Speaker? Got to be Kidding
Happy Wingster

I'm a native Cantonese speaker. I was looking for an app that I can use with my children. The female speaker is fine and sound like a native speaker. But the male speaker is speaks with a "foreign" accent. By foreign, I mean he sounded like either he is a native Mandarin speaker and not Cantonese (huge difference) or he must be an American born Chinese who learned to listen Cantonese from his family but rarely ever spoke it growing up. My advise is if you want to use this app, ignore all the words that uses the male voice. Unfortunately, each word/phrase is pronounced only by one speaker and not both. So, you won't get their full vocabulary list.

Don't work! :-(
BabyBunnyUSA

I try it. When I try to click the next page don't work. This app only show on one page only. Waste time! :-(

Great app
Plouie

The latest update is awesome!! Sentence examples, photos and a voice recorder. Some words are not casual cantonese hence not commonly used, but overall I think this is helping add to my cantonese vocab and greatly helping me learn characters.
