LandFormer is a challenging new puzzle game from Streaming Colour Studios. Each level is made up of 25 land tiles of different heights. Using the provided tools, raise or lower the tiles to flatten the board. Sound simple? It is…and it isn't.

Been following the developer on Twitter while he developed the program and didn't know what to expect with a name like Landformer (still think it stinks). BUT this app is GREAT FUN as I plan each move in my head and try to solve the puzzles. Highly recommend.

This is a short demo of an interesting game; it is crippled unless you use in-app purchase to enable saving and get more levels. Since this is a giant sales pitch anyway, the insane number of ads gets really annoying.

You get 10 "training" levels for free, which just help you understand the basic mechanics of the game. They're too easy to be called "fun". Admittedly, it's a cool concept, and I like the graphics; but it's just a trap for in-ap purchases. They could at least give you 10 real, challenging, fun levels for free, and then maybe I'd consider buying more. I could've gotten so much more with that bandwidth...

Don't waste your time. The free version only provides about ten super easy levels. I can't tell if I would like to buy the game or not. Definately not if the levels are that easy. There needs to be more levels with some being more difficult so you can tell if you want to buy the real game.

LandFormer is a great puzzle game that can be played in short sessions, which is perfect for the iOS devices. The design is simple: the player tries to flatten the board using different patterns. The challenge comes when trying to match or beat the number of moves the creator of the board took when creating it. A board editor is included in the game that allows you to create new boards and share them via email with a snapshot and a link that loads the board into the game when clicked from an iOS device. Using a blogging service, such as Posterous or Wordpress, players can post their boards to the web via email for the entire community to share. The editor controls are the same as playing a board. Purchasing the premium content gives you access to 50 new boards, save boards that you've created, and save boards that other players have created. The premium content basically ensures that you'll never run out of content. The iOS needs more games like this. The controls are well-suited for tapping, the menu is easy to navigate, it plays easily in short sessions, and user-generated content is available to keep the game fresh.
