Doesn’t work

zeus1958

It worked fine until I payed for it , then the lesson part won’t open the new words section, the quiz sections works, but nothing to be quizzed on

Not working

Amway_Dude

I can't do any of the lessons. I can only do quizzes. ?

Best Tagalog language app yet.

I tried Rosetta Stone for 6 months and it wasn’t nearly as helpful as this app. This app focuses on what’s most useful in conversations and is very easy to understand. I like how it tests your ability to translate the words in multiple ways, including giving the English word and having you find the Tagalog definition. The picture choices are even from the Philippines unlike some apps that use the same photos for every language. Clearly they put a lot of work into the development of this app.

Best app to learn Tagalog

My boyfriend and his family are from the Philippines and even though I am not great at learning languages I decided it was time to make an effort. I downloaded about 6 different apps to see which one I liked, and this one is by far the best. I like the lesson plan and the fact that it mixes reading/listening/visuals! It is easy to take the quizzes to practice a few minutes every day. That being said, there are some flaws in the grammar lessons that I've seen so far. I've been able to figure some of it out with the help of google and my boyfriend. So while I will continue using this on a daily basis and pay for the full version, I would say it does need to be supplemented with something else. If you don't want to spend much money, check YouTube!! There are a lot of channels dedicated to teaching Tagalog

Very good app and great customer support

The key is to use the app often. Do 2 x 15 minute sessions instead of one 30 minute session. I like the flash cards, the English to Tagalog and Tagalog translations. Melanie and her team are quite prompt and ready to assist via email- which they have done for me a few times over the years due to me upgrading iPad, iPhone, etc. They also are introducing a web based program. I do like it, but it seems to have similar content to the app, albeit with enhanced features and tests to ensure you learn the material. There is a nominal monthly fee instead of paying for the lessons all at once as with this app. Constructive suggestions....I think an enhanced explanation of verb conjugation would be beneficial. Some of the photos (such as for an airplane) can be improved upon rather than showing a cute boy under an inflatable plane. I have used the app for a few years now-every time I go to PI. While most speak English in Manila, outside of metro not everyone speaks it. An effort to learn the language goes a looooong way to showing respect. This is certainly a more cost effective method rather than shelling out more $$ for Rosetta Stone!

Good but flawed

This is probably the best app I’ve seen to help learn Tagalog so far. My biggest problem is the grammar isn’t well explained such as when you would use a prefix, infix, and suffix for which words. Also there are words such as “nakaupo” that aren’t explained in the lesson intro. There’s nothing about the prefix “naka”. Also, There are a mistakes in the wording. For example- when explaining future tense it would still say “past tense”. Also there are a couple translation errors like “Ang batang babea at ang batang babea” is the girl and the girl but the description at the beginning of lesson 2 says the translation is “the girl and the boy”. They’re not huge mistakes but mistakes none the less.

Awesome app

This a great app.easily compared to Rosetta stone. A very good and intuitive learning process. I will be buying the full version of this. 20.00 for this versus 149 just for half of the other program .its a no brainer. Keep up the great work and thanks.

I like it, but...

It's very similar to the rosetta stone method, which I've found very effective. However, the grammar sections at the beginning of each lesson are badly in need of proofreading, for example it says "past" when it should say "future" at one point. Which could lead to some serious confusion. I'm going to buy the full version anyway since this seems to be by far the best iPad Tagalog app currently available. I hope the paid version doesn't have the same issues. If so, it's probably still worth it, but far from ideal. Still, twenty bucks beats Rosetta stone by a mile.

Way too many typos

Rosetta Stone just doesn't work for me. Maybe word association works if you start young, but for me, I want to be taught the rules, and have some degree of translation. This program is fantastic, and is by far the best Tagalog app in the App Store...HOWEVER, it contains WAY too many errors, typos, and flat out mistakes. My partner is Filipino, and I have used Rosetta Stone (didn't love it but I finished it) and many of these errors are glaring. And for a language app, typos are unacceptable. The developers need to review each lesson and fix these mistakes. An occasional error happens, but there is no excuse for multiple errors in each lesson.Otherwise this potential five star app will keep its two star rating.

The best program EVER!!!

This Tagalog app is for when you don't know how to speak Tagalog and I got them all right.????
