Unique, never done before and now possible: design your own 7, 8, 12 or 16 threads Kumihimo pattern with beads.
This App makes it possible to create your own original Kumihimo design where you choose which color each bead is. In this way you can design the most colorful patterns. The possibilities are endless!
- Decide the number of beads (determines the length of your final braid, which in turn depends upon what you want to make) and the different colors for the beads, and design your own pattern
- When you have finished designing, you will see for each of the 7, 8, 12 or 16 threads the color and position of each bead
- You can highlight a particular thread in your pattern by touching the screen, and this makes it easy to thread the beads in the correct order. (only in the paid version)
- Print the pattern/bead layout (only in paid version)
- Save your design so that you can use it again or rework it. (only in the paid version)
- With clear step by step photo instructions, so that everybody can create Kumihimo braids.

To avoid misunderstandings: Only in the paid version of this app you can see the pattern (bead layout) of the design! But in the manual there is a example pattern for you to try!

Looks promising but...I'm very disappointed with the free version. Before I spend money on a product, I like to see how it works with the free version and determine whether it's really worth spending the money to purchase the full version. Unfortunately, the free version is so limited, it barely gives you any indication on how the program truly works. 1) You can make a kumihimo design, however you cannot see how it translates into a pattern which makes it difficult to test this version. 2) The program does not take size of beads into account. Sometimes I use 11/0 beads, sometimes 15/0, and if I'm feeling really adventurous, I'll make one using 2-4" bicone crystals, spikes, etc. This program could be fantastic, especially if it would allow you to design what you want on a flat surface and then flip that over into a kumihimo design pattern where it would explain the placement of each bead/crystal on the strings. With these changes, I'd be more than happy to re-evaluate this review and grade it higher. UPDATE: My review was two years ago. It took you TWO years to respond? Also, your answer did nothing to respond to the actual review. With all the issues listed above, you don’t get a “feel” for the product. Nice try.

Downloaded the first App had to pay to see bead colors, got this "lite" version, again have to pay to see bead colors on pattern, I don't think so. I don't find a great difference between the two versions.

This app is wonderful! You can design your Kumihimo to see exactly what it will look like . If you buy the app, you can then print out your designs. It is easy to use, change colors, and change designs. It is so easy to see your finished product! It has saved hours of time for me.

This Kumihimo designer helps with creating your own designs. You can play with all sorts of color variations and different lengths. You can't view the pattern with this one, but can with the purchase version. This one gives you a great opportunity to see how it works. I did go on and get the upgraded version. Definitely worth it.

If you have done any beaded Kumihimo, then you know how difficult and time consuming it is to develop interesting designs. I had previously purchased a program that laid out a flat grid as a pattern (for much more money) that just didn't work for me. The Kumihimo Bead Designer makes it simple to develop a pattern, since you can "roll" the braid as you fill it in, to see what it will really look like. Each update adds new dimension to an already dynamic app. Be advised that anything you design on the free version will not transfer to the full version. If you want to design your own patterns, just get the full version from the get go. Happy designing!!
