Very Happy With Kobo

I’ve been a Kobo reader since Sony shut down their ebook store. Although my reader is my primary device, I like the app on my IPad for flexibility. Audio books are a nice add.

Sadly lacking in text and layout options

danvpeterson

Considering Kobo e-reader devices are well known for their text customization features I was shocked to see how few options they have in the iOS apps. No line height options, not great typeface choices, no margin or any other spacing options. Many books by default have super short line heights making it difficult and uncomfortable to read in this app. No two column support in landscape on iPads is a big disappointment as well along with no way to keep sideloaded books in sync. I really, really wanted to switch from Kindle but all of this is making it sadly unlikely.

Decent but needs tweaks

DSpaceNine

The app needs to allow for changes in line spacing and margin widths. Reading books on my iPad with this app leaves a lot of unused space around the edges, and large gaps between lines of text.

Maybe if it let me finish the book I’d rate it higher

boymombooks

It worked all the way up to the last ten percent of my book and now it decides to keep giving me an error message of “something went wrong. Please try again”... I can go back and it will play, but any further than that last ten percent and it stops playing. Like why am I paying $10 a month to not even be able to finish the book? Robbery.

Improving

I am enjoying reading but still find a few quirks like getting to title page easily. I still need to try out annotating.

I am rather upset with your product. I bought a book and it never got into my library. Then your HELP told mr to delete the web site. I did and lost the books I had bought, but haven’t read yet. I have read thru you for years. I rebought the book I wanted in a series on IBooks. I don’t know how I can get the books I lost. There are 3 that I hated to loose. Thank you, Donna Theeck.

Kobo app for iPods

Schrisparker

Pros * Appearance * Being able to use search to edit my collection Cons * I have over 1400 books and over 280 collections and every time I have to change phones or remove and reinstall the app I have to put everything back in order and it takes a lot of time. * you have the menu bar on the bottom and we are supposed to be able to edit/personalize it. Every time I do it defaults back after I go to read a bit or close the app. Extremely frustrating.

Flaws

Motre-than-U-think

The e reader is handy and user friendly of sorts. Big problems: copying an pasting from text is not easier as others readers, and, most harmful, syncing imported ( not bought) book with desktop is nearly impossible . Kobo will only gain readers if it addresses those flaws.

Better than kindle in some ways, worse in others

insanimo

Highlighting is a little clumsy and the menu big takes more clicks to navigate, but it’s a solid epub reader with a good selection of fonts and library organization.
