As with Sudoku, the objective of Killer Sudoku is to fill the grid with the numbers 1 to 9 such that each row, column and nonet (3x3 group of cells) contains each number only once. In addition, a Killer Sudoku grid is divided into a number of cages, shown with dashed lines. The top-left corner of each cage shows the sum of the numbers within the cage. The same number cannot appear more than once in a cage.

There are ten puzzles included for free, and hundreds more available for download. The puzzles are graded into difficulty levels, all excellent quality and with a unique solution.

Bad controls few free puzzles

The controls are bad for a sudoku game. Also there are only 10 free puzzles and no random puzzles.

Pretty good

Enjoyable, puzzles are mostly moderat to easy.

Good game
Missie_in_maine

Been playing for a while now. Game would benefit from someway to denote all the squares of a number have been placed

Great Value but......
Shoofy100

Easy to use app and lots of puzzle pack options for a fair price. However there are a handful of puzzles that do not have a unique solution. Frustrating enough to drop a star from the rating.

Nice App

Enjoying this Killer Sudoku app. Wish it had a “pause” button and would highlight duplicate numbers.

Can’t down load the extra game
bert$123

Tried it on my iPhone and iPad and neither will let me down load the extra puzzles. What’s more, it tells me there is an error and will not let me cancel it. So I have to delete the app every time and reload it again. Good games, but useless app!

Best Killer Sudoku App on the iPad

This is actually an app version of my favorite Killer Sudoku website. Most of the same features that make that the greatest website are present here, too, including: 1. Unique solutions every time! 2. Puzzle packs available for purchase at every level, including my level, the highest one, Extreme. 3. Most puzzles I've purchased are symmetrical, which is my preference. An exception is 100 Extreme Killer Sudokus #2. 4. The timer can be turned off. I never want my Killer Sudokus timed! 5. Pencil marks available, using the same keyboard. 6. An ability to check what's been entered, looking at the whole board. Unlike some other Killer Sudoku apps, it does not show in red a number that can't be correct based on what has already been entered, which I consider to be very distracting, even though some may consider it helpful. 7. The ability to toggle between showing the numbers in entry sequence or number sequence. Although I have given this one a 5-star rating, there is still room for improvements, mainly along the lines of settings that are present in the web version but not here: 1. Remember that the timer has been turned off between games. 2. Turn off Undo includes cage combinations. 3. If playing on an iPad with a Bluetooth external keyboard, an option to use hardware keyboard entry instead of the app-specific onscreen keyboard. And one more request - Can we please have a version for Android? I have both an iPad and an Android phone, and I'd love to play this on both devices.

Excellent App
PlainOldMe

This is by far the best killer sudoku app I've tried. It's intelligently designed and very well presented. A real winner. I just wish there were more puzzles available.

Very well designed
Why does this nickname have to be unique, anyway?

I’m sort of addicted to this app. Killer Sudoku is a pretty complicated game, requiring the player to keep track of many possibilities. This app provides a lot of useful aids. For each cage, the app provides all the sets of numbers that are possible for it, and you can uncheck sets as you eliminate them as possibilities as you go along. You can, of course, enter “possible numbers” as notes in each square, or across a selection of squares. You can select more than one cage and the app will automatically tell you the sum of all its squares. There’s also a “calculator” that allows you to enter an arbitrary cage size, and it tells you all the possible combinations. There aren’t very many killer sudoku apps on the App Store (I know of two for certain), but this is easily the best one. It offers many sets of puzzles as in-app purchases, in a wide range of difficulties; since the harder puzzles have lots of replay value (unless you have perfect memory, I suppose), then a few of these purchases will last you a long time.

Not really free

The app only includes 10 puzzles. More puzzles can be purchased for $0.99 a pack. Lots of ad supported versions out there. I’ll use one of those.
