I’m doing a new review and adding a star because a few bits of the app aren’t broken. Live streaming mostly works. It even does a 1/2 hour commute without dropping, so that’s good. The real time playlist seems to work reliably as well. Unfortunately the streaming archive is not as reliable. It’s rare that I can keep it playing for more that 15 min on a good network. The favorites system is broken. You can tap the heart to favorite a song, but sometimes the heart won’t stay ‘on’. Songs that have been favorited sometimes won’t show up that way in the playlist, and visa versa! Songs that you haven’t favorited sometimes will show up with a heart in the playlist or now playing screen. However, all of this is moot because the favorites list itself doesn’t update! Nothing I’ve favorited has shown up there for a few weeks. Also the scrolling is broken on the list, you can scroll to the bottom, but it will scroll itself back up, hiding the last item. Finally, you can’t do anything with the favorites list. If you tap on any of the songs there, nothing happens. You can’t see more details or the AppleMusic, iTunes, or Spotify links like you can in now playing or favorites.

I love, love, love KEXP. This app is much improved in the New version. But it still has some problems. The streaming archive still shuts down approximately every 20 to 30 minutes in some of the shows, most of the shows I like to listen to. It is now possible to reset the timer and start where I left off. But, on most days, I cannot listen to an entire streaming show in one sitting. This problem should be the priority for fixing the app. Overall KEXP has done a great job of fixing a the app. It was a lack Luster Interface to the streaming archive and now I can mostly listen to my shows interrupted only every 20 minutes or so to reset it. I’m upgrading my review and please keep up the good work KEXP.

What is happening with the Spotify button? It was my favorite feature when it worked. Now when I push it I get this message - “Spotify can’t open this type of link on this device”. My device is an iPhone 6s with current IOS update.

Good, but needs UI improvements on iPad screens

The app is scaled for portrait viewing on a retina screen. If you’re using an iPad in landscape mode, it doesn’t rotate or rescale. This leaves you stuck looking at a screen with your head turned to 90 degrees to the side. Everything else is as I’d like it: the ability to see the playlist, same audio quality as listening to the stream directly, etc. But please fix the screen rotation issue ASAP!
