I bought this for my six year old grandson, however I think it is intended for a younger audience. I have purchased several other microscopes and this one fairs no worse or better. There isn't a huge selection to choose from so anything is better than nothing. I myself have decided to purchase a real microscope that he can use for years to come and will not out grow. As far as this one goes it does not begin to utilize the ability of the Ipad. It could do so much more and it's is dissapointing that is doesn't. Once you have seen the slides that come with it you are pretty much done. I don't see any child using this more than twice, mostly I believe it would sit in the closet.

My daughter is terrified of bugs, so when she opened it up, she screamed when she saw a fly. She then pressed a button and then the app showed her a silkworm, praying mantis, and an ant. She made me delete it. If your child is extremely afraid of bugs, don't get this app!!!
