Nice little TD-styled game with a few twists

Psychopusher

Inkub is a somewhat different take on the Tower Defense genre. You're essentially defending your incubator from viruses and other nasties that are out to infect your eggs as you incubate them. To do so you'll have a variety of weapons and tools at your disposal -- eventually. Unlike most TD games though you don't get money from killing nasties, but from energy generators to either side, and you can use the money they generate to upgrade them to make even more money. The challenge -- apart from the usual TD challenges -- is to manage your resources effectively between upgrading money and having enough at the ready to place tools and weaponry to fend off the nasties. An interesting twist is the third dimension, where there are multiple tubes both in front and behind, and you have to flip the incubator to reach the rear ones, so you have to keep an eye on all of these different tubes to keep them stocked with weaponry. Being tubes as well, enemies can't pass your guns or tools -- but they can destroy them, so that presents a problem. You have to place them strategically enough that they have room and reach to fire but not so crowded that they're likely to get destroyed often. It's inevitable that they will, you just have to manage their placement in order to minimize that. Unusually, the game uses a mix of 3D (the incubator and tubes itself) and 2D sprites (weapons and enemies) which looked a bit weird -- like seeing cartoon characters in a live action movie. You generally expect a game that invests in a 3D engine to go whole hog, but that's not the case here. I don't think that's either a bad or good thing when you get right down to it, it just struck me as strange and a little bit surreal. Not a bad little game overall though. The levels progress nicely, easing you into the rhythm and gradually introducing you to new elements and prodding you to improve your strategy. It gives you an effective enough tutorial during your first go that you get comfortable with the methodologies and strategies pretty quickly. Like some TD games, each round starts you off at the beginning with a new configuration and the standard starting funds. My only gripe is with upgrading. Upgrading is quite simple -- double-tap on the item to upgrade. Problem is it seems to have a bit of a time recognizing your double-tap and it may take several attempts before it clicks. Fun little game though, and reasonably priced for an iPad game given what you get, which is a decent number of progressively more difficult levels.

A nice and original TD

FPE2

Another reviewer has basically said it all. A nice little TD with an original theme and well executed. No glitches and good controls. The only little annoyance is, as already stated, the way energy is obtained. It is so peculiar that it takes time to get used to, but it gives the game an extra dimension in complexity.

Nice twist on TD genre

revlisoft

I was pleasantly surprised by this game and I'm a big TD fan. I really like the enemies and the 3D rotation which adds another depth of difficulty. The graphics could be sharper. I'm still getting used to putting towers in the way of the enemies which is kind of like Plants vs Zombies. With a few more improvements and interface improvements this could really be a gem. It's well worth the current asking price. I would like to see some kind of story line in TD games which is quite lacking in the market.

Cute and unique

Doxycyc

I have been quite impressed with the "wave" ( pun intended) of TD games on the iPad of late ( starfall monsters feed and starbase are examples) and this one does not disappoint. It has a few slightly different twists and a mix of 3D and 2D graphics that comes out pretty well. Give this one a try. I think you'll like it.

Fun TD Game

MeteorFlare

As mentioned by the other reviewers, this is a fun game! But, the slight twist (pun intended) that separates it from other TD games would be that there's a "3D" world you need to take care of. Good fun, nevertheless!

A great td game!

Bidfordun

This game can certainly please long time td fans with its own little twist like getting switched between 2 layers of screen to fend of those enemies. However i do notice some difficults in the games like we need to touch several times on our weapons to upgrade them. Is that a bug? This game will be better once developer fix this.

Is it just me or is this game incredibly difficult?

playdohpunk

As the title states, this is hard. I'm up to world 2 level 3 and I'm stuck. I cannot get enough energy to fight the vast waves that come on so strong right from the start. Oh, and this is both on average and easy difficulty. I think it needs to be ramped down a bit.

RIPPED OFF

ruspiced man

I dont know how this was sold to me. I have only obtained free APPS with three exceptions. This was not a purchased APP but some how I am now billed for it. If it was a free APP I would have tried it but I would never buy this. I want my money back for some thing I did not want.

Terrible

When will developers learn that adds during gameplay = delete, even tiny ones.
