Independent bookstores make a difference in your community, more than buying from big box stores or that major online book retailer that shall not be named. Your local shop owners support local causes, spend their money in the same community you do, or in the community you're visiting.

Indie Bookstore Finder is a collaboration between GoLocalApps and City Book Review. We started our business doing book reviews and created an app back in 2009 to promote our book reviews for children. Since that app, we spun off the app development business into GoLocalApps and now are back working together again.

Promising, but too few listings
Zobot Zobot

This app might be ok if it included a larger directory of local businesses. Even in the NYC area, which probably has the highest density of locally owned stores around, there are very few listings. Not sure I see how this app does much more than your standard yellow pages app does...

I love this app! It enables me to find unique small businesses! Can't wait to keep using it as more small businesses get themselves listed. It is a wonderful way to find and support the small brick and mortars upon which this country was built. I love knowing that by shopping small business, I am helping my local economy and local jobs--and this app makes it happen!

Another Giant Leap!! Hurray! ★★★★★

I installed the app on my iPad too (which I take almost everywhere). I travel a lot and I'm always seeking out local haunts (who wants to shop at Macy's when you can do that anywhere?) Very easy to navigate & I already have 'my favorites' marked with that bid ole ❤ Touche!

Great App for a Great idea!

I like the fact that as 3/50 grows, so will the list of local businesses in each area. I hate Corp restaurants when we travel, so this comes in handy for locating the lesser known's in the area. Good job!

Thank you

This is not only a great app, but a great idea. As a small independent business I greatly appreciate the support. We each need to not complain that there's to few, but work towards there being many more. I know I will. Thank you Cinda.

Great app!

Fantastic app and sorely needed for shoppers to support their locally owned businesses! I'm telling all of my favorite local businesses to get listed with the 3/50 Project so that more can be added to this app. Love it!

Finally...a location based app that

I am so happy this app has been made. I am sick of all the other apps that don't provide the "hidden gems" of the world that only the locals know about. I know this app is new and the developer says more listings are coming but I already found 3 shops and 1 restaurant that I wouldn't have otherwise known about. I am excited to learn about new local businesses in my area or wherever I may travel. THE BEST LOCATION BASED APP ever!

Sweet!

I love how easy this app is to navigate. I have already used it while on my trip to Houston. Kudos to Cinda Baxter and her 3/50 Project. They just keep getting better and better!

a national initiative promoting local ?
St Paul girl

I run a local app promoting local businesses and events and object to a national initiative coming to our market to tell us to promote local! How about throwing your support to the local apps! They are all over the U.S. - locals in communities running little tech social media sites. How about educating the local institutions who give locavore lip service to use local media instead of YELP , or .....Look Local!
