This is new?

Mike1180

This is a far less superior than its 2014 predecessor MPC PRO. Less kits. Nothing new. Ok, Akai clear all these samples ima have to use since you don’t wanna include more than 6 half butt kits.

Awesome

I was really hoping for more....

While this app is a step up from the original, I’m already finding it just as frustrating work with as the original. 1) AudioCopy is trash. It’s interface is really non-intuitive, and there are so many other examples of app content stores that do it better - why does Akai use it? 2) so many little annoying things. If you open the window to add a sample to the user’s bank, there’s no back button if you hit that button by accident, meaning you have to restart. 3) there are far fewer sounds available compared to the original iMPC. 4) you can’t import projects/samples from the original iMPC. 5) very laggy - with 9 samples across 3 tracks, the app can’t keep up. 6) when sampling from Spotify, I can only sample the last 30 seconds of any song. 7) you can’t turn off time correct once you’ve turned it on the first time. 8) the timeline is glitchy and frustrating. Snapping to grid works sometimes, filters work sometimes. 9) I haven’t yet figured out how to import samples to the same bank of pads as a previous import of samples. If there are samples occupying the bottom row of pads, they get overwritten by the newly imported samples. I’ve resorted to just creating new tracks. I’ve been working in it ~30 minutes a day since it was released, hoping I’m just not familiar with the workflow, but it seems like the app was really just not tested adequately before release. I’ve written to Akai/retronyms 3 times about their iMPC apps and have never gotten a response or acknowledgement. I hope this review helps - I would wait to buy this until they tighten their game up ?‍♂️

Please add 3D Touch velocity

automattika

I love this, but there are actually two things I want. First off, you could add support for 3D Touch velocity, since this is an iPhone-specific port. That would bring the feel and functionality of the real MPC pads that we know and love, and provide a great level of human feel. Also then we could do the cool thing with beat repeat where you crescendo with pad pressure. Also, and I’ve asked for this before, there is pad layers. That is literally the only difference from the Mac/pc version. Having the ability to multi sample a drum, and have pressure or randomization chose one of four samples instead of just the one is THE BEST. PLEEEASE DO THIS!!! Love you guys

Dope app but...

BLKNRD

Straight to the point. This is a really good app. If you used any of the BeatMaker apps, GarageBand or iMPC v1, this app feels better and you can really fine tune your project, BUT!!!! 1. It does NOT load MP3 files, just WAV at 16bit(I don’t mind 16bit). 2. To load samples you must use either iTunes or paste them thru AudioCopy. Another app to download. No direct link to File.app THATS WAAAACK AF!!!! It’s 2018, but theses two minor setbacks makes me feel like I’m using a MPC2000. Add mp3 compatibility and the ability to load files from File.app, it’ll receive 10stars.

Mikes jello

Love it!! Finally a real MPC with real MPC workflow and capability in my pocket. Keep this thing running for we beatmakers and thanks to Retronyms and Akai for your hard work. Inspiring!! ? Oh! And the MIDI and AU Extension possibilities!!! My MPC500 is going to be on the shelf. And it fits nicely on my the screen of my iPhone XR!! Not many music apps do.

Sampler Bug

KingdomHitz TV

Sampler has a bug in that won’t allow recording to start at the zero mark. Record won’t even play just stays sick at zero.

Pretty good

Good platform to chop samples on....

They don’t want you using you using your own samples

El Grayso

This app is awesome except, like other users have noted, it doesn’t have the *standard* ability to connect to your Dropbox or AudioShare libraries. You have to do everything through their “AudioCopy” app which is basically their store for samples. There are a few steps and you can import your own samples, but you have to open a *different app*, then import your sample into that app, then go back to iMPC and import your sample from their secondary app.... basically cutting you off from your own library, because you aren’t going to want to repeat this process every time you want to grab one of your samples. Just let us connect to our own libraries as expected. Let your great software speak for itself and make sales, don’t put up this in-app-purchase roadblock where we have to re purchase sounds to have any ease of use. It’s a great software, but if you like using your own sounds, look elsewhere for now.
