Great App - Just needs a few details ironed out

I really do like the app. I just want to like it a little more. Therefore, I give it 4 out of 5 stars. First off, the UI is definitely not the easiest to follow. I spent an hour or so each day over the span of a few days just to finally get my head wrapped around the navigation. I think part of the reason is that this app has a lot of stuff packed into it and maybe more than meets the eye. However, it could've been laid out a little more intuitively. One thing I would like to see different is a "Would you like to save your changes?" prompt. For example: If I go into a chore that I've created for my child and click on anything at all, it changes the chore. It saves those changes. I was just trying to show my wife all of the options within a chore, not actually wanting to change it and little did I know that everything I showed her get changed. I spent another while getting everything back in order. With her having the app also and being an admin, she can inadvertently change something also. If the app would have that prompt, it would help anyone from inadvertently changing a setting. Saving to DropBox is ok but a little limited for some users. Sometimes, the upload/download updates with DropBox seem a little slow to me even though my internet speed is fine. Maybe a cloud-based option would be a nice 2nd option. I really like that I can give money and/or stars. This fit my needs perfectly. My children have chores that they get paid for and they have other items, such as brushing teeth and feeding their animal, that isn't a paid chore. They should do those things without being told. As such, if they complete certain items like that, I give stars. 10 stars in one week = $5 that I pay out. It's incentive for them to do the things they are supposed to without being told to do so. It would be nice if I could make the app know that 10 stars = $5 or whatever dollar amount I assign. As it stands, I'd have to put a monetary figure for each star but I don't want to reward each one. I only want to reward if all 10 are achieved. Doing this "manually" isn't a huge deal but would be better if automatic. You can also log bad behavior. With bad behavior, the app will allow you to deduct stars or money... whichever you choose. Of course, the best feature is the fact that the kids use it and the adults use it. Just making the kids log into their device and show that they have done something is learning in itself. I spent a couple weeks reminding my kids each day to log in and show what they've done. I've quit reminding as much and have explained that the burden of showing what they've done falls on them now. I still give reminders, of course, but not as often. If they want paid, they'll handle their part. All in all, if anyone is looking to keep track of their children's chores, good behavior, even bad behavior, this is a great tool to use. In my opinion, any child 10 and up should be able to understand their portion easily enough. Once the parent gets through the setup process, which may be a little work, it'll smooth out and be a great tool to use.

Love this!

This makes it so much easier to track kids allowance and easily set it up for spending savings and giving. With actual money, my kids were always getting into each other's piggy banks and playing with their money and never really had any clue how much they had. Plus it was a pain to remember to get actual cash to give them for their allowance. This is way easier. They are four, six, and nine years old.

IAllowance is the best...

IAllowance is the best way to keep track of what your child is doing and earning with a wonderful system to pay him/her!

Alright

It's difficult to set up... had to watch utube videos to try to get through the set up - and I'm still having trouble.

Awesome!

Was PERFECT for what I wanted to track. I love that you can track time and assign minute amounts as rewards for chores. We use chores as a way to earn "screen time" (tablet, video games, tv) and this has been an amazing way to track it. The kids love seeing that check mark that adds time into their "bank" and I added a monthly allowance that is automatically added to their bank on the first of every month. I can't recommend this app enough. Once you take the time to set it all up, it is a complete breeze to use. And changing or adding things is easy once you know your way around the app. Love it! Thank you for making something so useful!

Great

It's a lot of work to set up, but once that is done this is great. I have it synced with my kids phone and that works well usually. I am currently being prompted to change for the legacy sync so we will see how that goes. I have emailed for assistance in the past and they were extremely helpful.

Awesome app.

I've used this app for years. Works great.

I almost love it!

I love how easy it is to keep track of how much my kids have earned. It's great for on the go when we're at the store and they see something they really want, I can quickly check if they have enough money. Love that I can predetermine their savings and charity money and it works automatically. Some reviewers said navigation was hard, but I found it fairly intuitive. Yes, it takes a little bit of time to figure the app out, but it's not terrible. I do have two complaints though... I have always based my kids allowance on the amount of chores they've completed (getting the stars), but there is no option for this. They get their allowance whether they've done their stuff or not. I have to manually do a transaction to take money away that they didn't earn. I really wish there was an option to base allowance on stars. (Or keep it the same way since some people do pay the same every week no matter what.) Not sure why I put in there that each star was worth 10¢ because it doesn't really matter. Also, I've been able to sync to my iPad and my son's iPod, but not my other son's iPod. I've tried both the opulence syncing (all of their iPods are I my account) and through Dropbox, but for some reason it always syncs with the one iPod but not the other. It makes it hard when I have 4 kids trying to record their jobs everyday...they always want to record all at the same time, of course. If those two things worked, this app would be perfect in my opinion!

Ridiculously Complicated

I wanted a way to track allowance, not launder money for the mob. You can’t even track a simple withdrawal without giving it a label. If I needed to label it, I would have labeled it. It’s like it was designed by Microsoft.
