Each Alphabet has a clear pronunciation in a cartoon voice with a small funny jingle to add more excitement. The audio teaches correct phonetic sound of each Alphabet. Covers also the "Aabaakada" style of phonetics.

The whole app is designed to be a virtual play garden of Bees who collect flowers on an Alphabet board. Child needs to trace the entire letter in a pre-defined correct path from one tiny flower to another. Its an intuitive way of traditional "join-the-dots" book to write the entire Alphabet. The honey bee doesn't move if the child draws an incorrect path and shows a correct flag if the child is successful in tracing the entire alphabet.

I am a primary school teacher and I liked this app very much. My 7yo doesn't want to leave the iPad. I have a suggestion to add images of "Apple" or "Banana" when the tracing is complete, we do the same in classrooms.

Proper writing, fun, and Some phonics

I love this. I have used it with my 3 kids all wanting turns (age 7, 4, & 2). It is best for the 3-6 age I think, but my 7 yr old needs to relearn top-to-bottom writing. I tried many other free or cheap writing apps and this is the best! No free tracing with sloppy discouraging lines, although that has its place after first mastering this app. The bee is funny and gives the sound of the letter, an example word, and a silly phrase. Suggestion: please have the bee say all the sounds for the letter like leapfrog does. C says /k/ or /s/... Not just /k/. Same with G, Y, and maybe vowels (although I just tell them that vowels sometimes say their names). I look forward to exploring all the features. Numbers, uppercase & lowercase letters. Great job!

Needs work - choppy handwriting mechanism

Writing with this app is not smooth- you have to keep picking up your finger to complete each letter, which defeats the purpose. I got this for free, but it is listed for $4.99 right now. The handwriting mechanism needs improvement before I would recommend this. I do like how it allows you to turn the narration off- I wasn't a big fan of the cartoon voice myself. I do like how you can practice using different colors, but again, until the writing mechanism is smooth, that is a moot point.
