Great game, terrible interface

CovertDad

I played the tabletop version of this game a few weeks ago, and really enjoyed it. When I saw this was available in the App Store, I bought it as soon as I could. Unfortunately, the interface hampers the game badly, especially on my iPad Mini. The dice are far to small to select easily, and there are way too many taps to make in order to progress through the game, and not enough indication of what options you have.

Interface is Horrible

I’m a big fan of the table top edition, the iPad edition is terrible to navigate. Way too many clicks needed for simple things. There’s no way to undo an action if you change your mind, so be REALLY ready to commit.

Kind of a mess

And not newbie friendly. This game is not that difficult, but this implementation hides everything behind screens. Read the manual for the board game first; it's better. Probably fine if you already know the board game, but the tutorial is kludgey and tough to run through. There is no way to examine the elder gods before you choose them in game. No ingame reference guide so you need to memorize all symbols before the first game to really understand game play.

Fun, if a bug doesn't kill your game entirely

I use an iPad Air ios 8.1.3. The game itself is fun, if easy. The counterintuitive buttons took a game to get through, and if you don't know when to trigger a location ability, you might waste potential resources... That's an operator error in part, but also an interface issue. Then the bugs. Whenever you look at certain spells that use a variable number of resources or magic points, instead of something like an X to denote the mystery number, you get $var. It breaks immersion. Finally, the game occasionally craps out entirely on certain pop up options, and with no hide feature on most of these, it immediately kills the game. If you wind up with a blank menu during excess spell deletion, you're done.

Dropped my rating, 5 to 1 (PO-ed)

Liked this game at first but it needed some tweaks. Updates were promised by the devs but just like with their other game, Collapsible D, they NEVER came thru. What a joke of an effort. Last game I buy from these losers.

Mediocre implementation

This app is not up to today's standards and seriously needs an update. I cannot recommend to anyone as it currently is unless you already like the board game and really really want to play on iPad.
