Sad to see a once healthy newspaper fold. Made a odd choice to try to be the New York Times in a business and sports town. This app doesn’t work, often won’t even allow one to log in. But no catastrophe, because the paper itself is not worth the effort.

They had a bad App that was redesigned into a terrible App. They have omitted great parts of the paper and made the parts they included impossible to navigate Not worth downloading

Since the last upgrade I cannot access the online version of the paper.

The new version of the App is junk. It just gives you a few headlines and not full content. I was going to cancel but I discovered I can go to the Chronicle web page for the e-version that has more content. I just put a link to this on my iPad home screen and deleted the app.

No search function. No games. You have to be a subscriber to get into this app AND they’re paying someone to make a worse app. Clearly worse. Who approves these changes? It’s as bad a the actual delivery subscription changing the price and adding $5 day-after-Thanksgiving editions (when not subscribed to Friday deliveries). They’re so secretive about prices and forcing stuff on you. How can enough people rate this to be a 2.4?

It’s beautiful but I prefer the duplicate of the real paper. I only use the app to do the crossword puzzles and now I can’t.

The crossword puzzle is gone as far as I can tell. For years I’ve enjoyed coffee and the crossword on Sunday mornings but am sad to find the new app no longer has this feature. Unless it’s buried somewhere that I haven’t found.
Paper?
The new app is worse than the old one, which at least had a couple of same day articles and a readable obituary. Why can’t you publish in your app what is in today’s paper instead of two, three and four days ago?

The recent redesign of this app is unusable. The old format, similar to a newspaper page like the WSJ app, was easy to use. Now stories from every section of the paper are scattered all over and you can’t tell what is most current. Bring back the old format and totally refresh it daily with what is on the print version. I hate this app now.
Third rate or worse
This has got to be the worst example of a much needed medium for our news. How can a large corporation such as the Houston Chronicle, deciminating news in the fourth largest city in the country, continue to ignore this problem. They happily open their pockets to take our subscription money then turn around and give us a very inferior product. Shame on you. After my current subscription is up I will cancel. No crossword, no comics page. I don’t understand why this two things are not part of the newspaper.
