It has potential

As a Binding of Isaac player, I was very excited to learn that something similar was available on iOS, since the developers of that game have no intention of porting it. I really hope that this app is successful, but in my opinion there are some serious problems with the controls. Unlike with BoI, you can only shoot in the direction you are currently facing. In order to face in a given direction, you have to move at least a little in that direction. So, to aim at a monster, you have to move towards it at least a little bit, which is just the opposite of what you want to do. Meanwhile, the monster is also moving towards you, closing the distance very quickly, so you really have to be on the other side of a room for this to be safe. To make matters worse, some of the monsters shoot at you, so you have to dodge, which means you will then have to gain some distance and go through this arduous aiming process again. And unlike your character, the monsters can turn and shoot on a dime. Because of this, I found most of my time was spent dodging rather than shooting, and I was still getting hit a lot anyways. It was a lot better when I used my joystick, but still pretty awful. Now, I'm sure this would become easier as I practice more, but this is just not a fun mechanic. I can only assume the developers felt the need to distinguish this game a bit more from BoI, but they shouldn't have mucked with the controls. It needs to be a dual-stick shooter! I will probably buy the full version and recommend it if this gets changed, but I haven't even seen all the content in the free version due to the aforementioned difficulties. Positives: the art style is good. I also like that the monsters do friendly fire (including status-effect attacks). I was a little unclear about the difference between certain weapons, like the wooden sword and wooden bat, but that's ok. Seems to be a good variety of weapons, at least on the first floor that I have seen.

I want to love this game too

But the controls are abysmal. At least you can find out for yourself before paying.

this game is crap

icedfate

never mind its an obvious ripoff of binding of isaac without the twisted creepiness that made that game so endearing. i actually think its a good try which is why it gets 2 stars but the controls are HORRIBLE! its impossible to shoot and dodge with sticky unresponsive controls. the regular shooting works but the directional movements are so slow and the fact you have to stop and point your character towards the enemy...you can't strafe or move backwards and shoot. if i turn d-pad shooting on, the buttons are so tiny, half the time i shoot the wrong way another quarter of the time it doesn't shoot at all. doesn't apple have any quality control?! how do these crappy games keep getting into the app store?

Good but needs directional shooting

William Eddy

Directional shooting added! Early enemies now not as hard, I like it. But it still silently crashes at the end of level one. And why can't I hold down the shooting buttons instead of getting a thumb cramp? Great job guys; you're getting there! Old review: Guys, it's clear you've spent lots of time on this game. I WANT TO LOVE IT. But it needs directional shooting. Not a button, a d-pad. That way I can move up while I shoot down. I want to like the game. I want to play it. But I won't. Not until this is fixed. Fix it, and maybe you'll even get my money.

How does one craft?

Decent game, but how do I craft? :/

Meh.

The game itself is not as good as I've hoped it would be. The story line is plain too. The thing I liked most about it was the gameplay and the features, quite similar to Binding of Isaac.

Terrible

The first thought

This game stole every concept from the binding off Isaac from the hidden rooms to the mobs. The binding of Isaac was an original idea that could not easily be topped by a game with the same concepts. The producer of this game is self promoting on Isaac Forums, and as an Isaac fan I am offended. The art it terrible and the game is very glitchy. I have found tons of exploits and the game is far to easy. If it ain't broke, don't fix it... Isaac is NOT broken!

Binding of Isaac

Nobody with no power

This game is pretty much a rip off of the binding of Isaac. That is a good thing!! Though it doesn't have as much content, it have some neat little features that make it nice. It also has its own lore. A few bugs and weirdness her and there(you can skateboard through walls). I like it.

A little too hard

Kidgamer9

Not even TBIO should be this unforgiving. Needs serious difficulty balances.
