"HK Urban Canvas" is a community art project devised to enhance community inclusion and highlight unique aspects of local culture through art and oral history. To showcase local shop owners and reflect their personalities and the stories behind their businesses, a group of local artists created 20 unique works of shutter art. The powerful images commemorate local history, collective memories and the important contributions of our community neighbours.
By downloading the mobile app you can view the shutter artworks even when shops are open and the shutters are not visible. You can also follow four GPS-supported suggested cultural tour routes and use the easy-to-locate checkpoints to help you uncover the unique art, neighbourhood stories and community history of Wan Chai, Central and Western.
