For those of you who rated it down because of the "bad art": watch the anime, read the manga, or play the play station version. The story can really get you hyped up trying to figure out what REALLY happened. This is for anyone who likes to be scared and doesn't mind having freakish nightmares-- or should I say, RENAmares.

Yea i like the anime but i fail to see why people call this a game when its not , also not what i expected i was expected to play a game most iPod games are boring i was expecting a good game, that why i rate bad because its not a game it just a motion book that moves when you tap the screen, (wow really great)- sarcasm

I was expecting to be able to play at least once, but even when I realized that it's just a read through, I still was in love. As a person who has only seen the anime (and parts of it at best), this really enlightened me on the whole plot. Besides, I absolutely love reading~! (Not to mention that the pictures gave me nightmares and the music was just incredible)

I am a huge fan of the When They Cry series, so I was really excited to see this available on the app store. I was sorely disappointed when I actually opened up the game. The writing is -terrible-. Is this a first draft that nobody bothered to edit? Were none of the writers or editors actually fluent in English? How could something like this train wreck of a script actually be published? And since this is a visual -novel-, the writing is kind of important. The Higurashi games deserve so much better, and I am thoroughly disappointed.

Anyone who is a fan of the anime/manga and wants to enjoy the original story unabridged must buy this. I am a fan of the anime and I enjoyed all the extra scenes that were excluded.

I think what makes this game as good as it is is the way it pulls you into the world and connects you to the characters in a way that isn't common in horror. It's adorable and terrifying at the same time, and that's a hard combination to pull off. As some people have mentioned, the art is not great and the translation could be better, but it is worth taking into account that this is the first episode in a games series which started off as an indie project. As I understand it, Ryukishi07 did all of the drawings himself and also photographed the backgrounds, so this was pretty much a homegrown project. The fact that it has since been adapted into anime and manga and other mediums, with professional art and voice acting and the like, purely on the momentum of its popularity, I think is a pretty strong testimony to its quality. If you ask me, kids today are rather spoiled by all of these beautifully rendered 3D games produced on budgets comparable to those of feature films. Gaming was an activity that required a lot more imagination back in the day.

07th Expansion has done it. They made the best visual novel ever. I could not put this series down! Now, all I want is the Umineko When They Cry visual novel.
I win do haha
With the same basic story as the anime, it goes beyond it. Its more in-depth and has a lot more detail about events that happened in both and is an overall amazing story.

I was ecstatic when I heard that the Higurashi sound-novels were released on the iphone! I think it would also be a great investment to release the Umineko series aswell!

There's no ability to get a bundle discount, and the character artwork isn't even the new updated version. The game also resets when you press the home screen. Needs to be fixed.
