As another noted you have a single hero, but you can collect artifacts and use spells. Some have noted it is hard to get off the first island by defeating the heavily defended crypts and castle. However, if you first buy a ship and leave the island before attacking those heavier defended items you can wander around and pick up chests and acquire more gold and spells. With the gold you can purchase better units. Attack ships that you can defeat and gain more experience points and then attack your first castle and crypts. It does get buggy after a software upgrade, but has always been fixed. Appreciate the details on the different troops, what they throw and the sounds they make. Really LOVE this retro game.
How do I move/use/get off/whatever the boat?

I want to like this game - always liked the Might and Magic and similar games. But this thing is littered with problems. For example, my archers moving toward an enemy two spaces away when I tap the enemy to attack (rather than staying put and shooting), an enemy group of fewer archers beating my larger group of archers (with no other units on the field), not enough easy groups of enemies to build up your team at the beginning (I cleared out all the enemies on the roads, and then went to fight the crypts and castles and got wiped out very quickly), nothing to buy at your home castle, unit homes changing unit types (this was weird - I first found dwarves at a treehouse?? Then later found the fairies there. Then dwarves appeared again - since when do dwarves live in trees? Lol). Graphics are cute, but game is kinda slow - movement doesn't seem to be affected by animation speed set in the options). Game just feels like it needs a lot of polish.

Kind of like HOMM but single hero and no town management. It works well; light and fun. Each game is a random map, which is great for replay value. You recruit units as you find them. The game features spells like haste, artifacts like magic boots, skills like necromancy. Hope they add new classes. I want to play as a necromancer, for example. Also I wish instead of 'days left' countdown you just gave game over score based on how quickly you beat game. Would make player feel less rushed.
