Fun for a while, but pay to win

Fun top-down shooter like Tiger Heli, 1942, the Raptor series, but with a permanent bro instead of a power-up that those other games use to boost firepower. Kind of bullet hell in some cases, but usually not so tense. Planes are interesting with varied super attacks, same with bros. Gameplay is very simple. Leveling up and progressing is not very clear, and becomes quite grind quickly, unfortunately. There is enough growth for free2play players to keep you engaged, although the “story” is quite convoluted and disjointed (we’re talking DOOM levels of story here). At some point, grinding out the necessary resources to level both the plane and the bros you want to use becomes tedious. There is a grind for most games these days (find me one that doesn’t), but the core feedback to the player here is: stop and just pay for what you want, or you won’t progress for months. Not like, wait until the next event, but an indefinite good-luck grind. Good for a while, but easy to drop once the grind starts.

It get’s 2 stars because the game mechanics are fun. The rest of it is freemium garbage. Literally everything you can do is behind a paywall, you can’t even grind the game - which kills the replay value for those of us who aren’t going to pay hundreds ( yes HUNDREDS ) to advance. I don’t mind ads because I play with no sound and can flip the screen over but even that is not enough to make the game’s replay value overcome it’s repay value, which is incessant. Artwork and design are great, play is fun, love co-op but in the end it’s just more development effort ruined in the name of freemium modelling.

*** I understand the Alien Event is over, but why can’t I open any of the Boxes I earned for implants now that she’s gone? I had about 3000 of her Tokens saved and no way to spend them now. Really?? - - - I’ve written several reviews of Hawk throughout the last year documenting its changes and updates relative to F2P players and the big spenders. Now usually when an Event comes and goes, you can no longer play the Event to earn more rewards/Tokens, but you are normally still able to spend the ‘Tokens’ or Event currency that you earned throughout it. Hopefully this is a glitch or oversight from the developers and they can patch it into the game. This hasn’t happened with the last few Events so why this time? Pretty bummed that I grinded for all those Tokens and didn’t get to spend a single one.

Not worth playing this game. Very dishonest game that just want you to spend money to evolve your planes. I regret ever playing this game

I have spent hundreds of dollars in the game and on their events to make my planes stronger to have a chance to be in the leaderboard then a month later devs did an update nerfing what i have invested on making the planes useless for their contest Don’t download the game unless you want you hard earned money taken away
