Ham Utility

Ham Utility is one of those must have apps for all ham radio operators and swl's.
Category Price Seller Device
Utilities $0.99 Matthew Miller iPhone, iPad, iPod

Features:

*Frequency Band Plan (Including US)
* Q-Codes (never forget to say the right Q Code)
*Antenna Calculator
*Solar Data (Showing a host of information including calculated band conditions)

An essential part of this app is the antenna calculator. If you need to make an antenna in a hurry, simple type in the desired TX frequency and at a click of a button antenna designs for Dipole and Vertical antennas are displayed.

Now you can test your morse skills, or learn the morse code using the handy inbuilt KEY and morse code chart.

Add a few to the Morse code / ? . Period , comma Jim AD0YO

Pretty bad..

The band plan information is inaccurate and incorrect. Could use more features like DX cluster, FCC RF exposure calculator, etc. For a pay app, should be more useful.

Handy app to have

Nice app to take along with your gear Very handy like the qrz call sign lookup

Good App

I echo the previous opinion...useful.

Excellent App

This is an extremely useful app. The band plan is detailed and particularly useful for those new to bands. Love the antenna calculator! If you are a Ham you should have this app.

Good App!l

On the antenna calculator I would like to see inches, not just fractions of feet. On the band plan I would like to see the freq. range, not just "2m" by itself, and so-on.

Worth $.99 for the practice keyer alone.
Dave's Pad

I bought this for the practice keyer. I works like an osciillator for Morse code practice. Tap the key button, and it produces a tone for as long as you are pressing the button. There's a little chirp or click on key-press and key-release (on an ipad), but that could be due to the speaker. The band-plan section is mainly for Great Britain, with some notes for US/North America, but I haven't compared it directly to the US band plan as given at ARRL. Suggestions for next release: - have separate band plans for GB vs US, or a separate app for GB vs US. - go into greater detail on the sub-bands - in the browser window that does QRZ look-ups, allow contracting/expanding the view with the pinch/pull-apart movement - show punctuation and pro-signs in the Morse Code section, not just letters and numbers. - allow for full screen view when installed on an ipad. - allow for rotation. - investigate the chirp/click on key-press and key-release on ipad. Adjust software to eliminate it, if applicable.

Band plan is incorrect for USA
AD0AC

Need an option for USA band plans. Following the UK plan could get you in trouble.
