Education | Free | Hackaball Ltd | iPhone, iPad, iPod |
Hackaball is a smart rubber ball the size of a softball, which kids can program using an iPhone, iPad or Mac to make their own games with the ball's sensors, colours, noises, vibrations. Drop the ball, it might change colour. Throw the ball at a friend or a wall, and it can make a noise.
Using this free app, kids can program Hackaball with a powerful set of rules that have been designed to introduce them to the principles of coding.
Shake it, throw it, spin it or bounce it, Hackaball can react with bright coloured lights, amazing sounds, and powerful rumble patterns.
Its having trouble painting the backgrounds. Here you see several screens overlayed on each other. At one point in the game workflow, a step slowly started to paint down like a dialup connection then froze completely because the app crashed. Also, I'm surprised you don't have basic loops like while and for. This is a disappointment. My 8 & 10 yr olds have done basic programming games and I thought hackaball would give them hardware that they could try their skills on. Seems like all hardware and little programming (i.e. All ball and no hack)
