This app appeared out of frustration of trying to lose weight and struggling to get fit with exhaustion and constant failures on the way. I've managed to get to ideal weight only watching how it goes away in a matter of months, work that has been done in years is gone and I need to start over. I was never able to track what I eat long enough or stick to a diet, and all those temptations over cake won me over. I'm not perfect and I won't be changing my life because of the app, but I've decided to control one small piece of my diet - junk I eat, all healthy options are not included. So here is this app, that I'm building to help me and hopefully others to win the weight fight and keep eating desserts.

App automatically integrates with Apple Health and calculates the number of calories you've burned during the day, so if you burned cheesecake number of calories you are free to enjoy it, although do not expect scales to be different from yesterday.

Besides tracking calories, I'm assuming that you are healthy in your daily choices, and in order to burn 1 pound/kilo of calories you'll need to spend a certain amount of calories, so we can assume your weight and closeness to the goal.

How does this help with guilt management?

Controling your junk = controling your guilt = ending cycle

The weight loss process usually much longer than we expect, occasionally we don't have the power to resist temptation and eat something we are not supposed to, this results in guilt, which results in more guilt and ends with a binge-eating cycle. That is why this app was made - instead of feeling guilty over a piece of cake, track it, take an appropriate number of steps, and move on, without falling into a cycle.

Why is this different from any calories counter?

Balance over control

Guiltfreejunk's goal is not to have any restrictions on what, when, or how much you eat, but to show you the balance between active calories burned and junk calories taken, so we don't expect you to track all your food, just the unhealthy part.

How do you calculate goal calories?

Very roughly with 1 pound ~ 3 500 calories, 1 kilo ~ 7 700 calories

This is a part where we'll become more accurate with more users and time. For now, we are just using a rough estimation of weight to calories, which for 1 pound is 3 500 calories. We'll be improving this with each new user giving better estimates with ML & AI.

How can I add an activity?

Currently only through Apple Health

We believe in lazy, so we're focusing primarily on integration with existing apps you might be already using, like Apple Health, and using them as a reliable source. We'll be adding manual activity entries and integrations with Strava, FitBit, GoogleFit later.
